... Wheelersburg has been moving up my rankings ... Marietta has been moving up my rankings ... I rank over the entirety of the season not just one week or one game ... I'm NOT jumping a team over 14 other teams "just because" ... will they end up in the Elite 8? will they end up at 1,2,3 ? very well could happen ... IF a team IS an Elite 8 team they will prove it over the course of the season ... not just "playing like the #1" team for a game or two ... Marietta has improved as a team for sure ... 8-2 BUT out of their 8 wins only 2 having winning records - Meigs & Fairbank ...the others are 3-5, 3-7, 4-5, 2-9, 2-3, 5-5... they played Steubenville - outstanding team , may win the state in D3 BUT they got soundly beaten by Steubenville 57-29 ... gave WCC a good game in a losing effort ... now Marietta is going to play an 8 game stretch with a few SE District teams from the TVC ... Fort Frye 6-2 twice/Belpre 6-4 are the only teams with winning records ... 6 of the games are at home ... these wins won't push the needle much ... wins ARE wins ... improve the record ... Marietta is in a good/appropriate spot right now imo - take care of business in the next 8 games + East at Marietta is 1-11 ... the only GAMES left on Marietta's schedule are @ New Philly (7-3) and @ John Glenn (7-1) ...

... Both Wheelersburg and Marietta are in my top 10 ... the teams above them play strong league schedules vs strong league teams - they will lose games ... Wheelersburg PLAYS @ #1 Jackson 1/13, vs #16 SW twice, @ #11 Waverly, vs #5 Unioto neutral court, @ #2 Chillicothe ... the burg has opportunities to SHOW on the court they belong in the top 8 ...

... bottom line is teams WILL play their way into the appropriate positions in the rankings imo ... the rankings get tweaked every week with me paying attention to the games prior to the week that IS ... and the games OF the week that IS ...ie. the Burg had a great "week that WAS" winning at HOME over Ironton & Waverly ... the Pirates jumped 10 spots in the rankings ... Marietta jumped 5 spots beating a team no one else plays in OT in Fairbanks then beating Meigs , a SE district team who they were ranked ahead of to begin last week ... Marietta is at 9, Burg is at 10 ...

... glad the rankings are doing what they are intended to do - promoting discussion and disagreement that in itself PROMOTES discussion ...
Marietta was WAY below where they should have been going into week 5, so jumping five spots was nothing. And they beat a team this past week that was undefeated and will probably finish 21-1 in the Central district. Nobody else in the Southeast will play a team like that the rest of the season. Played Wheeling Central Catholic as tough as anyone will all season and the Tigers played Steubenville defensively better than anyone has to date (strangely awful shooting night in the paint for sure) leading to a lop-sided loss. By the way Bloom Carroll has a winning record and was 5-2 when Marietta beat them (you didn't account for them). All things considered, strength of schedule, quality wins and only two home games so far all point to a better ranking than 9th. I won't counter with an analysis of the teams above them but none with the exception of Jackson makes a stronger case in the rankings. Just promoting discussion. Marietta won't move up much from here because their schedule becomes decisively easier, at least in January (two challenging games in February), so they won't get credit for winning. Well, you can't say we don't have vigorous discussion.
Actually.. Three other local teams played Wheeling Central Catholic the exact same. Steubenville, Waverly, Marietta - all lost by 10.

Then there’s the Steubenville game itself… You can’t get beat by 30 and call it an off night.
Did you see any of these games?

And they only jump up to number 18😂 when most of the other teams wouldn’t stand a chance against court house. They’re only losses are #1 Jackson(very close game), #3 Circleville and while the score might’ve been a blowout if you were at the game circleville obviously got very hot very early but after that it was neck and neck. And a oakwood team that would smoke most of the teams in SEO. Beating the reigning consensus number #1 team that reigned for 1.5 season has got to at least get you into the top 10.
I’m assuming because 80% of the people in here believe Court House will lose 6 FAC games this year….believe me if they contend for the FAC title they will be bumped up…..and im apart of that 80%….lol
So now courthouse has beaten #2 Chillicothe by double digits. What more can I say? How many more excuses to not bump up courthouse before they get the respect they deserve. If they beat trace which no one had done for 30 games. Chilli which is number 2 and beat multiple top teams. And really only lost to Jackson and circleville then they should at least be top 10-8 you would think. It was clear Noah was the best player on the floor and Chillicothe had no answer for all of their pieces. It’s not too late to see what’s going on here and jump aboard the ship that is Washington court house.

If Wheelersburg beats Jackson Tuesday they should go to number 1.
