1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Not what I said. I said i know of that many. I'm sure there are more. You can't even win an argument against Burg.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
DANG GIVE IT A REST,, How old are you people you act like grade school kids ,, it is a high school basketball game , the top 3 or 4 teams in most leagues can win on any given night, grow up and move on !!!
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Ok hoops 37. You have it all figured out. I will stick to my 1 or 2 football games a year.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
This is comical that people are bashing Burg for "transfers" on an oak hill/burg thread when 90% of oak hills offense is from transfers .

This post wins.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Let me ask this, what grade are you not considered a transfer anymore. If you enroll at a school before your freshman year and spend all 4 years with that school then why is that student labeled a transfer.

.... because they transferred in
Most people seem to not pay much attention to "transferring" if it takes place in Elementary school... or, perhaps a true change of residence due to a parent getting a new job etc... I think transferring right before high school always seems to look a little.... sketchy?
But in this particular instance (Oak Hill), the two boys did transfer in before their freshman year, but do not reside in Oak Hill.

Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
But if you have goals as a student athlete and the school you attend has neglected the basketball program for a decade and showed no wanting to fix it. So they are supposed to go without because the adults in charge have not held up their end. All schools have transfers in different sports but if that team is loosing who cares. If a student can transfer to better their chances to get to their goals then who's the fool.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Student athlete goals? So education? What type goals? NBA? D1? D2? D3, NAIA? Jackson has been horrible at basketball from what I can remember for a long time but didn't they have a Chatman kid play at Pikeville and win a national championship there? What about the Justise twins from Peebles. Didn't they both play D1 or something? I guess I don't understand what kind of goals.Noodle319 wrote:But if you have goals as a student athlete and the school you attend has neglected the basketball program for a decade and showed no wanting to fix it. I believe in school choice,I also believe that parents have rights, that being said, academically, community support, youth sports programs, etc etc, whats not to like?
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Everyone knows my transferring thoughts. To each their own. We live in America.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Goals are what the athletes and parents want out of playing high school sports. It may be a scholarship or just being the best player they can be. If a program is not what it should be then you can't blame a player for leaving. It just sucks that if a kid transfers from a bad situation to a good one they are labeled.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
The Justice boys aren't twins. Both scored over 2,000 points while playing for Peebles. Blake played 1 year I think at D1 Akron and then transferred to D2 Valdosta State in Georgia and had a very good career. He was an assistant coach early in this season but recently signed a professional contract and is playing in Germany. His brother Beau started at West Liberty I believe but has since transferred to Valdosta St and last I heard was tearing it up.Ed Ott wrote:Student athlete goals? So education? What type goals? NBA? And yes, Colt Chapman graduated from Jackson and went to a top NAIA school and was a rotation player early in his career as they won it all. Colt was a big player for them his final 2 years.
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
If being labeled a "transfer" is the worst thing someone's going to be labeled, then they're going to live a pretty happy life.Noodle319 wrote:Goals are what the athletes and parents want out of playing high school sports. The dad was a twin. Those twins Brett and Brian played 1979-1982 I Believe. They averaged around 20 points each, their starting five all averaged in double figures and allowed less than 40 points per game. They were part of a team that won like 69 straight regular season games in a row for Peebles and coach Art Myers. Both played 4 years of college ,but ; I think they went to Capital.Ironman92 wrote:The Justice boys aren't twins. Both scored over 2,000 points while playing for Peebles. Yes Beau is starting guard at Valdosta State and is tearing it up. As of Tuesday I think Valdosta is 17-3.Hoopie74 wrote:Ironman92 wrote:The Justice boys aren't twins. I won't make this a personal attack, but I know who you are, and you wouldn't want your skeletons going public. Check yourself in the mirror first. One win against Oak Hill doesn't change the way anyone thinks of the coach. He is still the same person when it comes to respect of the kids and community. A lot of kids have no respect for him because he doesn't show respect to any of them. You can demand respect from the kids but if you show no respect back, you are not going to get it from the kids.
The fact that you think you are a prominent member of Burg Athletics and that anybody cares about your opinion is comical. We know you hate Coach Ater and staff and no matter how many they win, you will dismiss it.
Please all posters on SEOPS, understand that MADNESS is just a loose cannon who has his own issues in life. He does not feel the way 99% of any Burg sports fan. He is negative about everything in a town where the fall sports are great, winter sports are great, and spring sports are great. Could you imagine if he had to suffer through 3-7 football seasons or 7-15 basketball seasons??? Whew.
Nice to see you so pumped for the big win as always! Push aside beating state ranked teams and complain about losing 1 possession games to solid teams coming off 2 weeks of practice. Valley game 1 struggle, Valley game 2 blowout. Webster game 1 lose, Game 2 comfortable win. Minford game 1 close for a while then comfortable win, Game 2 Blowout. Oak Hill Game 1 close loss, Oak Hill game 2 close win! Do you not see a pattern???
These kids are busting their tails for Coach Ater, Coach Ater is putting them in good spots to succeed, and it's a great balance and what one would call a TEAM! They needed time to gel as a TEAM! Their summer's are cut short by baseball, football, etc., their off season in spring / fall is cut short by all 2-3 sport athletes, and their preseason practices and scrimmages are cut at least in half each year due to football. It's very easy common sense to see what happens in Burg each year since football has been making week 13 and 14 playoff runs.
I wonder if we asked the football coaches to start practicing Aug. 14 for their game Aug. 25th versus Ironton how they would feel? Since you are a such a football Burgite MADNESS, maybe you could answer that question for me or ask Coach Woodward. Stick to football and skip going to the basketball games, as a fan and member of the community, we'll be much more positive without you. Thanks!
The justices,Brett,Brian,Blake ,Beau and the girls ,can't remember their names have accounted for over 6000 points for Peebles basketball teams thru the years.Hoopie74 wrote:Yes Beau is starting guard at Valdosta State and is tearing it up. They are ranked in the top 25 and are 18-3...Beau had 31 in the season opener and scored 13 against FSU in their exhibition game.Hoopie74 wrote:Yes Beau is starting guard at Valdosta State and is tearing it up. As of Tuesday I think Valdosta is 17-3.Hoopie74 wrote:Ironman92 wrote:

Correct me if I'm wrong (probably am)...but during Blake's years did a talented Setty boy transfer to a KY high school?.....and that same Setty help the Pikeville team win a national championship with the aforementioned Chapman kid? Did I bring this full circle or was it another Setty kid?
Re: 1/31: Oak Hill @ Wheelersburg
Yes, there were two very talented Setty boys who left Peebles. One had a very solid career at Pikeville, the youngest had a great career at OU.Ironman92 wrote:They are ranked in the top 25 and are 18-3...Beau had 31 in the season opener and scored 13 against FSU in their exhibition game.Hoopie74 wrote:Yes Beau is starting guard at Valdosta State and is tearing it up. Both Settys, and Blake are currently playing pro ball in Europe. Treg and Trevor are both 6'8" or so and play small forward.Settys played at Mason County and won state championship one year.
