I saw Africentric play earlier this year, they try to much one on one. Not as good as last year, and Eastern from what I have read and heard is a really good TEAM.

Good win tonight for the Eagles! Best game I've saw these boys play the past couple of years for 3 1/2 quarters. think they're up 26 at one point.

On a side note, I looked up Africentrics record. Are they down this year or do they just play a really tough schedule?

No where close to what they usually are

Not impressed with them to be honest. Watching in warmups I figured Eastern by 15-20

Seemed like eastern outran them in the first 3. Just killed their press. Coach barrick is definitely a mastermind at what he does. Afrocentric has very talented, athletic kids. But they dont play as a team. A lot of street ball. If they played together they would be incredible. Definitely down this year but still a lot of athleticism. Also very nice young men on that team.

They play one of the toughest schedules in D3, but they are also down from what they typically are.

I would ‘t say the toughest schedules in Div-III but their schedule is very challenging!

I will admit I’m surprised that Eastern was able to adjust to the speed! But what I’m even more impressed with is they won a high scoring game! If somebody would have told me the game was going to be played in the high 60’s-low 70’s, I would have guaranteed that Africentric was the winner. I didn’t think Eastern could run with them. I now have a completely different opinion of Eastern.

Yes. The bottom end of their division of the City League is pretty bad, but playing teams like Thomas Worthington (13-4, D1), Walnut Ridge (14-2, D1), South 2x (15-1, D2), Eastmoor Academy 2x, Grandview Heights, Ottawa Glandorf (13-2), and Eastern Pike (17-1) more than makes up for it.

I’d take those projections by MaxPreps with a grain of salt, just like one probably should when they assign statewide rankings to a particular team and that number appears on the team page.

In the qualitative vein, Africentric does play one of the toughest D3 schedules in Ohio. Walnut Ridge 2x, Cols South and Eastmoor twice apiece, too.

Instead of debating the quality of win or not, I am simply going to congratulate the boys from Beaver for representing the SOC very well and showing why they are currently sitting with only one loss on their resume. Anytime one of the Southeastern Ohio schools can beat a Columbus City school I will take it!

I commend Eastern for putting a team like Africentric on their schedule and this will pay dividends simply for the exposure of speed and play style they faced. To be honest, I couldn't be prouder of the Eagles and hope they take this momentum into the tourney trail.
