Great game. Symmes lead most of the game. Western is a tough place to play, congrats to the Indians on earning a share of the title

Seems like a great game for the top two teams in the SOC I. Hopefully both of these teams can make a tourney run. Little closer than I was expecting though. Thought Western would win by 12-15 being at home and make free throws at the end. Love to see this type of competition.

This game didn’t end the way all you guys on here predicted. It was a tight ball game that the Vikings led most of the way and that hinged mainly on the fact that Best for the Vikings shutdown Miller for the Indians. He is the the fastest and Best defender around and took Miller completely out of the game. The shots that normally fall for the Vikings didn’t and they got away from there game plan and that was the difference in this game in the last minute or two. Both teams are very good teams and if anyone sleeps on them in the tourney they are gonna have a bad night. I think both teams have a chance of putting together a good run into the playoffs.

The reason the game was close is because Western was in foul trouble the entire game. Best did a great job on Miller but he played only about 2 quarters because he was in foul trouble. Carter for Western also played very little. The good thing about the Western team is you cant take just one guy away and expect to win. They have 4 guys that could go for 20 any night. SV had a good game plan, But it boils down to Western made more plays when their players were in foul trouble. Great game tho I would have loved to be in the stands for that atmosphere.

Just a point of order for the discussion. SV did not lead “most of the game.”
Western got up 7-0.
Something like 10-7 Western at the end the 1st.
20-14 SV halftime.
Western took the lead back with under a minute left in the 3rd.
Then it was back and forth for a little while through part of the 4th before pull away a little with 2:00 to go.
So, neither team led most of the game.

In short…SV didn’t take their first lead until 6:51 in 2nd.
And Western took back the lead for good with 6:09 left in the 4th. If anything it was 50-50.
Just sayin’…

So this conference end in a tie for first place? That's terrible. Is there not some sort of tie breaker in place to determine a true champion? Head to head score or something?

Not sure any conference around here has a tie breaker?

I've seen it in a couple of conferences. Can even remember where, and not sure if it's still in place or not. Just seems like maybe a better way of deciding. Not a big deal though. How would this one have turned out if they did head to head score?

I wouldn’t use this as a tie breaker but just to answer your question.
Symmes Valley 60, Western 58
Western 47, Symmes Valley 42

Wow, very tight!
Good Luck to both teams in the tournament. Seems to be 2 very scrappy teams that will be a tough out for anyone in the tournament!

I’m not real familiar with the SOC - I teams and their players. Do either of these teams return a lot of players next year?

I’m not sure at SV but I think they have several Seniors. Seems like at least some of the same faces for a while.
Western has 8 seniors. 3 are starters and 2 get some time off the bench.
