The Mark Porter Spartan Classic
... will be held on the Alexander School Campus on Friday ,January 2 and Saturday, January 3, 2026. The Classic benefits the Alexander Athletic Department. Adult tickets will be $6 and students $5. Below is the Classic Schedule:
Friday
6:00 Athens Bulldogs vs Peebles Indians
7:45 Alexander Lady Spartans vs Logan Elm Braves
Saturday
11:00 Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs Warren Warriors
12:45 Eastern Meigs Eagles vs Fairland Dragons
2:30 Trimble Tomcats vs South Gallia Rebels
4:15 Southern Tornados vs Crooksville Ceramics
6:00 Meigs Marauders vs Waverly Tigers
7:45 Alexander Spartans vs Dawson Bryant Hornets

I'll be there at least on Friday night, possibly for the early games on Saturday as well.

I plan on being there Friday as well , then back on Saturday for the day ... always a well run event by the Alexander folks ... besides! where else can you hear the "Voice of high school basketball- Lou Horvath" when you're not at the Convo - Alexander High School !!! Lou does the PA for Alexander High School and will be doing the Mark Porter Spartan Classic as he has done for years ...

Have they change the schedule? Last night I was listening to Meigs/GA post-game and they were saying Meigs time was change

… I haven’t seen anything ,
itsme … if anything changed the Alexander folks will get it on here at SEOPS … we’ll keep checking though …

This Is Swampfox13 one of the organizers. We have not made any schedule changes. We are looking forward watching the teams play and an exciting 2 days of basketball. Just wanting to clear up previous post about possible game change. We will be contacting the involved AD's

Waverly will be missing Teagan Hurt (out for the season) - starter & Kai Keesee may be out as well ( would have been starting to replace Hurt) … Russell is back … the Myers “ twin towers “ are going to have to be more offensive minded… both will need to be part of the bigs posting up inside/ maybe high low post play … not having
Hurt takes away a lot of the transition game for the Tigers - it will be interesting to see who steps up …

Getting loaded up for the trek east north east on Rt 32 for the
Peebles / Athens game.
Bo Johnson out again tonight with ankle injury . Peebles 34- Athens 24 at the half.
