SOC - OVC Merger

If the SOC & OVC were to merge, would that leave Ironton out in the cold in regards to a conference? If this merge were to happen in the near future, I believe the SOC schools would welcome all the schools from the OVC, but would not accept Ironton as a member at all, in any sport. It would make for a very interesting side topic if a merger would actually take place.

Need to try Wheelersburg, Waverly and Minford to the OVC, South Point, Fairland and Chesapeake to the SOC.

considering the proximity of the schools you just mentioned to one another what you said makes zero sense

I do feel like this is all a ticking time bomb
Tho teams in each conference need something different
Burg, Portsmouth, West, Minford, Ironton, South Point, Fairland, Gallia
Valley, Northwest, Webster, Oak Hill, Peake, Rock Hill, Coal Grove
Green, Symmes, East, Clay, ND, SG
Western, Eastern, Waverly go to SVC
something like that? Idk. Ptown already coming into SOC so changes gona havta be made anyway

I believe Waverly has attempted to join the SVC in recent past, but wasn't accepted...yet. Rumblings about the SVC expanding to 10 or 12 schools and splitting them up evenly into smaller/larger school divisions. I hear Greenfield McClain is a strong possibility in the future. Eastern & Western Pike along with Waverly and Greenfield would be a good fit. McClain needs to get out of the FAC. Always thought Wellston or Logan Elm would also be a good fit into the SVC...

Geographically the only problem with these leagues is waverly and gallia. Otherwise they are as perfect as they get. Especially with portsmouth joining the SOC 2/3.
Forcing Chesapeake to travel to NW on a tuesday would be about the dumbest idea ever.

Not in the near term, but never say never. There will eventually be a trigger that causes it to happen out of necessity. Gallia or one of the Pike County schools bolting will cause the cascade of change to start. Even Ironton might factor back in as a full member depending on what direction their football program takes. Burnt bridges can be rebuilt out of necessity.

i think they should consider it it would be great for both the ovc and soc
look at the travel time you would save plus you would not have to go out and find other schools to
play and call it the southern valley conference

Seems unlikely but would be good in the long term. Maybe more realistic now would be a formal scheduling agreement in football and basketball as a starting point.

I always thought an SOC/OVC all-star game would be cool... an would generate more interest than any individual conf.. would have had some nice match-ups over the years.. and im sure in the future

I’m hearing Waverly & Greenfield, Eastern & Western to the SVC is gaining traction.
