It's really bad but basketball in general is really bad and has been going down hill for the last couple of years.

If this is in reference to Logan beating TVC schools you are way off! Let's put some facts out there.

1st - Logan beat Vinton by 9
2nd - beat Athens by 25
3rd - beat NY by 14
4th - beat Alex by 24

Now the 5th fact and most important FACT of all! You should beat these teams!

Boys in school

NY - 151
Alex - 171
Vinton - 271
Athens - 297

Are you listening?

LOGAN - 478

WOW - Yes you would and should be TVC Champs. We'll crown you now!

Glad your proud to be the TVC champ ... Now go try and win the SEOAL.

Also - put TVC-OHIO in your topic ... I don't think Logan would beat either Southern or Belpre - so your topic title is a little mis-leading.

Is the TVC-Ohio down? Perhaps a little.
Is the TVC-Hocking down? Not really - maybe some of the middle and lower tier teams - but it always has a couple of that will compete for a district title and its no different this year.

You must not remember, but we have been told, number of boys means nothing in sports.

Of course it means something. But why would you brag about beating a bunch of TvC schools when it shouldn't even be a question as to whether you would beat them or not. It would be kind of embarrassing for a school of that size not to beat TVC teams

Didn't logan get destroyed by some TVC football teams this year? Oh yea Nelsonville beat them 42-6 in football. Now that is embarrassing

How do you determine the number of athletes a school has on a yearly basis. What if 350 boys are mechanics and hate sports? The number is deceiving. On the other hand I think Logan could beat Belpre. It might be a pretty good game.

Belpre - 145 boys. D**M I should hope they could beat them.

That is the numbers from the OHSAA, and, that is what all divisions are based on. Sorry, but thats what we have to go on. Whether the boys are Beauticians or mechanics. Logan may have more of both of those than Belpre has total boys. Not intended as a slam but Logan has 3 times more boys than 75% of the TVC and almost 200 more than the biggest TVC school. (Athens)

Yet again, we have been reminded over, and over, and over, and over again how the number of boys in the school has nothing to do with the five boys on the court. Come to think of it, where are those people who cry that rubbish any way? They must not like Logan, and only want to apply that logic when it pertains to their favorite school. ;-)

Marietta thought the same thing:

Belpre - 73
Marietta - 65

I'm not sold on the number of boys OR girls in the school ... I mean, Southern has like 98 boys and I would put them up against any of the 'bigger' schools in southeast Ohio ... Or how about Waterford girls? They might have what, 100 girls? But they would beat pretty much any bigger school in southeast Ohio. Putting 5 good starting basketball players on the floor doesn't require 400 or 500 boys or girls.

But it does make the percentage of having 5 good ones in the school way higher. It's almost like having an all star team from 3 or 4 TVC schools

Could not have made a better claim myself, but you might as well give up and just be satisfied that you are correct Trooper, cause some people will never admit it. Most of those who won't are on the higher end of the numbers thing though, if that is any consolation.

Warren, Jackson, Dublin Scioto, Logan & Marietta are all bigger than Athens - but not once did I view the outcome of those games due to the number of boys in each school ... The Bulldogs were a 'bigger' school in some of their games ... But not all of them by any stretch.

Out of the 20 games ... 10 of them were against bigger schools or the around the same size.

So then why are you not defending Logan while these people say Logan should beat the TVC teams?

I did in a round-a-bout way ... I agreed Logan was able to beat the TVC Ohio cause the league is a little down ... Then followed it up by saying I didn't think they could beat little ol Belpre or Southern ... I wouldn't have said that had I not believed just because Southern or Belpre are small - they shouldn't beat a team the size f Logan.

No matter how many enrolled; you can only put 5 on the floor at a time. :122246
So that should mean the teams with the deeper benches should be better. :?: Hence the larger schools having more boys to choose from makes them better; not always the case.
Regardless of enrollment, it's all about getting the best kids out to play. Don't help the basketball team if a school has 450 boys, and the 5 or 6 best roundball players don't play :(

GO VIKES

Year in and year out the school with more kids will be better than the lower schools. It's just common sense
