Oak Hill boys top GAHS 63-40 in Foundation Game

Visiting Oak Hill broke a 7-7 tie with 3:46 left in the first quarter and went on to post a 63-40 Foundation Game hardwood victory over the Gallia Academy Blue Devils in the GAHS gymnasium Tuesday evening.

The Oaks led 33-18 at halftime and 42-28 going into the final quarter.

Oak Hill had three players score in double figures, led by Nick Gaines 19 points. Luke Hammond added 16 and Josh Kisor 12.

Bryce Amos led GAHS with nine points. Nick Saunders finished with eight and Jim Clagg six.

GAHS connected on 15 of 40 field goal attempts for 26.6 percent. At the foul line, GAHS sank nine of 13 freebies for 69.2 percent. GAHS had 21 rebounds, led by Bryce Amos’ seven snags. GAHS wound up with 21 turnovers.

Oak Hill sank 27 of 49 field goal attempts for 55 percent. At the line, the Oaks were five of 12 for 41 percent. The Oaks had 31 rebounds and 12 turnovers.

In the girls game, the Lady Oaks downed GAHS, 54-38. Oak Hill led 20-12, 39-20, and 49-28 at the quartermarks.

Heather Ward led the Blue Angels with 12 points. Brittany Butler tossed in 24 for the Lady Oaks.

Lots of youth on the court last night. Only 2-3 on the team with much varsity playtime last year. It will be interesting to see how they play with a little more game time experience. ... a little better shot percentage wont hurt either.
