Coach Stapleton did very well last year going 14-7, and 2nd place in the SOC....after a few down years. He also received the Coaches Association District 14 "Coach of the Year" last season. He is still Don Stapleton though.... :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24 :aaaaa24

Nice to see Josh Tyler play well. He played very hard for Green last year and it's nice to see that young man do well.He flat out gets after it; the way the game should be played.

Western Indians 77
New Boston Glenwood Tigers 75

Tied at 75-75 with less than 10 seconds to go, Western's Smithson puts one in with about 3 seconds to secure the win for the Indians. It was the home opener for the Tigers and they came ready to play. With a 0-3 mark for New Boston, it seems the Indians were looking ahead. The Tigers led 21-19 after one, 49-43 at the half and by as many as ten points with 6:00 to go in the third. Western rallies in the third to take the lead 62-59 entering the final frame. The end of the game was a real barnburner with the largest lead being by 6 by the Indians. Both teams missed many opportunities to score in that final quarter.

Congrats to the Western Indians! Great job by the Tigers!

The JV game went to the Indians also by a 45-31 score.

New Boston falls to 0-4, 0-2, and will travel up to Piketon to take on the Redstreaks on the 23th to close out the year. Piketon is 4-1, with wins over Clark Montessori 67-56, Huntington Ross 69-61 in OT, Columbus Mifflin 75-60 and Paint Valley 74-41. The Redstreaks loss was to Zane Trace 55-44. Western improves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. Their next games are 12/27 and 12/30 in the Pike County Holiday Tournament at Waverly.

The Tigers next game is 1/6 at Symmes Valley, 1/9 they host the East Tartans and on 1/10 it's up river at South Gallia to take on the Rebels.

The New Boston Glenwood Tigers start 2009 with three games this week.

Tuesday, 1/6, the Tigers 0-4, 0-2, travel up to Willow Wood to tangle with the Symmes Valley Vikings 2-4, 1-1. The Vikings has defeated South Gallia 61-44 and Eastern Pike in OT 73-69. The losses were to Coal Grove 64-52 and Portsmouth Clay 59-54. The other games I have not been able to track.

Friday, 1/9, the Tigers host the Sciotoville East Tartans 3-1, 1-1.

Saturday, 1/10 the Tigers make the long jaunt up to Mercerville to meet the South Gallia Rebels 2-5. The Rebels have defeated Cross Lanes Christian, W.Va. 71-46 and Wahama, W.Va. 65-57. They have lost to Racine Southern 76-47, Rock Hill 53-28, Symmes Valley 61-43, Oak Hill 91-38 and Sciotoville East 79-60.

Good Luck to the Tigers! Let's start the New Year off right!

If anyone has the makeup dates for the home game with Notre Dame and the away game with Piketon, please post. Thanks!

Symmes Valley Vikings 63
New Boston Glenwood Tigers 59

The trip to Willow Wood was not a good one! Congrats Vikings! However, staying that close to the Vikings on the road is commendable.

The Tigers fall to 0-5, 0-3 and look to Friday to host the East Tartans 3-2, 1-2, who lost at Eastern tonight. The JV Vikings also won. Symmes Valley varsity improves to 3-4, 2-1.

The Tigers and Tartans will be a good one!

How many more heart breaking losses can this team take?I thought this team would compete for the league this year.......A few plays go there way and there sitting at 4-3 or 5-2.I think just getting that 1 win will get them going and I think it will happen this week.
