Re: Dec. 9 - Athens (1-1) @ Vinton County (0-1)
THERE WAS ALREADY A TOPIC STARTED ON ATHENS VS VINTON COUNTY ... But that's cool - I'll delete the other one and leave yours Power 105.
(From other thread)
Athens (1-1)
Vinton County (0-1)
It will be extremly tough for the 'Dogs to go into McArthur and win a game versus a team like VC (IMO); but perhaps the best thing for Athens was the experience they got playing at Waren last night ... It may have ended in a loss - but at least they know what it's going to take to beat a tough opponent on the road.

TTT ... Must be the 'calm-before-the-storm'.
It seems pretty quiet on SEOPS for a big time match-up between two potential TVC-Ohio contenders.

Bulldogs should win this matchup, then prepare for GAHS invasion on Saturday.
Re: Dec. 9 - Athens (1-1) @ Vinton County (0-1)
... this one should be a great "barometer" game for both teams ... we know that both teams WILL be in the hunt all season, both teams feel THEY should be THE team to beat in the TVC Ohio ...BOTH teams can make good arguments for being the team the others will be chasing with an early season "W" Friday night ...
Athens will do what Coach Skinner teams do better than ANY other team in SouthEast Ohio - work to control the game by dictating the tempo for 32 minutes ... the Bulldogs will be patient offensively wanting to get the shot they want when they want to take it ... AHS will look to get inside to take advantage of their size... doesn't mean the Bulldogs won't take the trifecta - but the offense will start with inside touches before kicking it out to the perimeter ... I'm looking forward to seeing how the freshmen combo of Burrow/Luehrman mesh with Simmons/Skinner/Maxson/Germano ... IF Athens CAN control the tempo, have a rebounding edge - Athens gets the road "W" ...
On the Vinton County side ... Coach Combs' boyz CAN play in the half court - running their motion offense looking to take advantage of the athletic ability they have in Kidd and Chesser... both can get to the rim, with Chesser being able to elevate anywhere on the court for his jumper - the kid has "ups"!!! ... Remy has to be a force in the paint, VC can not expect Owings to be the man in the middle at 5-9 ... Vinton Co. will need to at least be equal or better vs Athens on the boards at both ends of the floor imo for Vikings to get the home "W" ... IF VC can get out in transition, taking advantage of the speed of Smallwood, Chesser,Owings,Kidd,& Remy life will be good for those in Maroon and White ...
... with that said It will probably end up a shoot out on Rt 50, both teams in the 70's or 80's LOL ... I DO KNOW that both Coach Skinner and Coach Combs will have their troops ready to give us a some great high school hoops tomorrow night ... should be fun to watch ...

Re: Dec. 9 - Athens (1-1) @ Vinton County (0-1)
Vinton County with a 3 game sweep of Athens tonight. Freshman and JV both won by around 15 and the varsity Vikes put it on the Bulldogs with a convincing 78-52 win on their home court. Team played a great all around game tonight.
