Landon Carroll led the Oaks to a huge win tonight over a very good Eastern (Beaver) team. Final score was 44-49. Oaks looked very good in their opener.

South Webster lost their opener to Jackson tonight. Zimmerman was held to 8 points with zero field goals.

Doesn't surprise me about Oak Hill. Eastern will be OK. Would like to hear a little more about the game.

Oaks did not shoot the ball well tonight, but won this game on the defensive end. Landon Carroll carried the load offensively for the Oaks with the help of Mitchell Hale. Nolan Carroll had the task of guarding the Eagles best offensive threat, Ethan Leist and held him to single digits. The Oaks big man, Brett Long disrupted shots in the paint all night making it difficult for the Eagles to score offensively and also rebounded the ball extremely well.

The Eagles were led on offense by the younger Evan Leist. He was able to penetrate and finish at the rim very effectively. The Eagles are very well coached team and play very aggressively on the defensive end of the floor.

This was a very close game that came down to the wire tied up with less than 40 seconds left. Landon Carroll made the game winner with 2 seconds remaining followed by a steal and a couple of clutch free throws by Hale to seal the win for the Oaks.

Eastern Oak Hill was a great game to watch great coaching and players battle it out. The game could've easily went the other way. I look for both teams to at least compete if not win their respective divisions.

Unless Burg can right the ship and figure how to score against a zone defense, it's going to be a long season for a team with high expectations.

Burg put 17 up in the 1st qtr and then only managed to score 18 the next 3 qtrs. in the loss to Webster tonight.

Webster started out in man defense and the Burg got out to an 8 point lead I believe with Kaden Coleman putting up 10 in the 1st qtr. He ended the night with 13. Webster went zone the rest of the game and the Burg could not figure out how to get the ball into Coleman and then started jacking up three after three.

Every team they face from here on out will be playing zone.

Another night where Burg got out coached. Best athletes in the league, best player in the league, and not showing it at all.

I agree. Burg went a stretch there with around 2 minutes to go, down by five where they passed the ball around for 40 seconds and then jack up a crazy three.

Webster had no answer for either Coleman or Holden in the paint but yet as soon as they went to zone, Burg had no clue how to continue to get the ball in the paint.

Another player I can't figure out why they are not shooting more is Bivens. He had a great first half against Valley and then has been non-existent the last two games. Against Valley he was the only one taking it to the foul line against the zone and hitting the jumpers. Then in the 2nd half it was if he was told to quit shooting so much, even though he was scoring.

Also noticed a Burg player on the roster that is not on the team now. Wonder what that is about????

Sounds like Wheelersburg is just as overrated in roundball as they were in football.

Any team that doesn't play a zone against Burg must not be doing any scouting.

Let's not take anything away from South Webster. They are very well coached and have some very good players. S.W. went into Wheelersburg and earned the win. It was not a case where Wheelersburg played bad and SW played good. SW made Wheelersburg play badly. Congrats on the Win!!

Great point. while Burg no doubt struggled hitting shots (again), Webster has to get some credit for that. Webster has 5 guys capable of going off for 15-20+ every night, and at least 4 of those kids are going on to play college athletics. They are well-coached and appear capable of winning SOC II this year. The tough early schedule already paying off for the Jeeps.*

Burg missed a TON of wide open shots tonight. Don't get me wrong, Webster played physical and got away with it most of the night (1 team foul on them up until about 2 minutes left in the game, Burg 2-3 at the line) and that might have altered a few shots, but Coleman and Holden should of had a field day under the basket, which Coleman did in the 1st qtr and then Burg for some reason can't get the ball back into him and Holden quit dribble driving to the basket.

While I agree Webster was physical, Burg was undoubtedly even more physical (as they should be with so many football kids). I thought there were SEVERAL calls around the rim both ways that should have been fouls. I'll give the refs credit though, they decided early they were going to let the kids play and they did just that --- even though it did go a little too far at times. Nonetheless, they were consistent.

Yeah, I'll give you that because both teams should have been in the bonus in the 3rd qtr. LOL

We'll see how Burg fares against Minford this Friday. They lose that one and more than likely no SOC gold ball in Burg this year as well.

The better team won. Revs were consistent, they let them play. Burg won't win many games standing on the perimeter chucking up outside shots. No urgency late in game down 5, burg seemed perfectly content passing the ball around the perimeter. Congrats to the jeeps, they wanted this game more.

Burg will have no problem against Minford. Minford is rebuilding after the great run they have had the past 3 or & 4 years. The real question is how will Burg fair against the top half of the league.

On the flip side, S.W. has a chance to be very good.
