I can't believe these things:

1. Sheridan in the district semifinals
2. Sheridan winning 12 games this season.

The team I follow scrimmaged them and literally beat the Generals by 100. If you told me they would win 12 games I would say Coach Booth ( don't know if he is the head coach, got it off max preps) should be the state coach of the year. This IS NOT a knock on Sheridan but more of a compliment. It's really nice to see a team actually get better throughout a year. Congrats Sheridan Generals!

Sheridan will be a formidable foe for the Cavs. To get a 4 seed in a sectional where some of the coaches don't know you says something. In fact, they could have got a 3 seed. Horsley is a stud 1000 point scorer and the supporting cast is very good. Sheridan is physical and plays excellent D. Should be a matchup of two teams that will get after it on the Defensive end.

Cavs need to step up their game A's we invade Athens on Wed. It's Basketball 30 time and this Cav loves it.

GO CAVS!!! ONE HEARTBEAT!

Sheridan only has two Seniors. Jacob Horsley, and Seth Helser. Horsely just hit his 1000 pt. at Logan. Freville a 6'4 jr. will play some at guard. They have a 6'7 jr. but didnt play much. That may change that though. It may not hurt to have a big body clogging up the middle. They will use their bench. One of their guards shot lights out in a game or two. (20 ?) In the Marietta game he really didnt look to shoot. They put enough game together to beat Marietta. I cant say what will hit the floor at the Convo but Im gonna find out Wednesday.

After loosing 7 seniors to graduation, Sheridan played this year very young and very inexperienced. As noted, only 2 seniors, but only Horsley and Freville had any varsity time before this season (Freville came off the bench as a soph last year.) They will play 8-9 players in their rotations. They have a freshman starting and 2 sophs usually being the 1st off the bench. The team started off very slow and shell shocked (as someone noted above about the Bloom Carroll scrimmage). They lost 4 of their 1st 6 games. However, as the season progressed, the younger players began to relax some and began to understand/accept the roles they would need to fulfill. It's been fun watching the team progress each night.

However, who knows what will happen under the bright lights of the Convo. There are times they play very well, but there are times they still show their inexperience. Chilli should hold the distinct advantage, but Sheridan will grind and will make it interesting if you let them hang around.

Cavs lead 22 - 14 at the half. Cavs missing way too many lay ups. Letting Sheridan stay in the game.

Cavs D wins out at the Convo tonight. Tough gritty opponent in the Sheridan Generals. A's is always said, this is the survive and advance season. Cavs don't shot well tonight, but hold Sheridan to 28% shooting from the field. Mr London totally dominates the glass with 14 rebounds and 9-10 block shots. IMO, the perimeter D limited Sheridans 3 ball shooters and forced everything to Mr London who was a glass cleaner and eraser tonight. Horsely basically was a non factor as his touches were not in clean space. His teammates were tentative and shot 0 for from 3 ball land. Generals did hit the offensive glass early, but that was the extent of the offense. By my count Sheridan missed 18 shots in the paint London' blockes and altered shots played a major role in that. Generals scoring by quarter was 6 8 9 and 9.

Offensively the Cavs were very balanced with London leading the way with 14. Bixler comes in huge with 13 followed by Johnson and Elliott with 10 and 8 respectively. Cavs had great scoring opportunities, but the lid seemed to be on the basket. Convo nerves, anxiety, etc usually have a say in that, but the Cavs left at least 10 points on the board. Cavs scoring by quarter was consistent at 12 10 12 and 13. Good enough for the W, but definitely must improve going forward.

GO CAVS!!! ONE HEARTBEAT!
