Belpre @ Fort Frye Nov 30th Opener

Post by EasternDspy »

Fort Frye returns 3 starters from last years team including Shon Smith 18.7 a game and a 877 point scorer. Also returning is JR Chandler Lang a good scorer and very tough player.I look for him to bring some big time scoring this season.Caden Brooker is a very underrated returning starter from last season does a lot of the dirty work.Seth Legrean SO will get his 1st yr starting varsity.Very lanky kid that will get easy scores around the hoop.Needs to work on his free throws.Last starter will be Jr Jordan Anderson. He will be handling the ball a lot and can shoot.Bench 3 Srs- Hesson,Norris,Omsbach....This will be Eric Hennigers debut as coach.

Belpres big strengh is interior play of Therioult, and Leasure.Hoffman will need to bring some outside game.ULLman and Nestors ball handling will be missed a lot in this game.Anyone have any info on the new players for Eagles this season?Thornhill is a good coach.

With the loss of Ullman the guard play will suffer big time. Hoffman is pretty much the only experienced guard. Sophomore Sam Petty could provide some help although he lacks varsity experience. Leasure by far the best player on the roster is very fundamentally sound and can score anywhere on the court. If Belpre can make it a half court low scoring game they may Be able to pull the upset. If they can stay out of foul trouble they can keep it close but ANY hint of a closely called game will spell BLOWOUT for the Cadets.

I think Austin Forshey will probably see a lot of playing time at guard and look for Nick Therriault to contribute a lot of scoring for the Eagles.Brice Pittenger should be more improved in the scoring department also.I believe Belpre will still be a very competitive team and will still give the Cadets a good game and possibly pull out a win.

Eaglepapaw.... I 4got about Forshey but debth will be a major factor. Are there ANY juniors on the varsity at all?? If Tavian Miller plays he would be a big help. Miller the best athlete in the school (starting varsity qb) would go a long way in providing some extra firepower!!!!

I believe the only junior beside Jake Ullman is Nick Therriault. Yes Miller would be a big help if he played but I hear he is pretty serious about not playing.Hopefully he will change his mind and join the team before the start of the season.

Chandler Lang and Caden Brooker are a little mismatched vs Leasure and Therriault. If Nick can get easy buckets it might be able to counter the 3 point shooting of the Cadets.FF just a different team at home losing to only Warren 2x and Shenandoah in its last 20 games in Beverly.

Playing basketball would enhance Miller's chance at playing football at the next level. The TVC Hocking is such a week league that showing versatility would help garner attention. If your playing at a "football" school in a "football" conference, specializing is fine but the talent Miller has in ALL sports would make a huge difference in recruiting value. He has a high basketball IQ and no doubt would contribute greatly to the EAGLES BASKETBALL!!

Here is quote from caldwellbasketball.

Caldwell vs. Belpre scrimmage this morning was about as even as it could get. Belpre is physical and well coached despite not having Ullman. Their big kids play strong. Believe the 6 quarters played were split and each quarter was within a basket or so either way. The officials did not show up so it was pretty physical and chippy. It was great for our young guys to have to deal with a really physical game situation. Apologies to the Belpre team for the officials not showing up today. Best of luck to the Eagles and coaches Thornhill and Engle this winter.

If Belpre stays out of foul trouble, they win. And I wouldn't consider it an upset.

LETS GO EAGLES!!!

How is Belpre going to guard FF?Just like when FF scrimmaged Marietta and JG it will be a matchup nightmare.FF will spread it out and Legrean and the boys will get layup after layup.Add the fact that FF is the way better shooting team playing at home.Shon Smith is the best basketball player in the county and he will dominate Belpre guards.

Belpre may well have trouble because lack of debth. You comment that Smith is the BEST basketball player in the county is ridiculous. Warren has 2 kids that are DI prospects. Both were impressive in AAU this past summer. Guess we will see Dec 4th.

Never said FF was best team just think Smiths the best player. He has proved it over and over and he inches closer and closer to 1000.Smith doesn't have the size to be a D1 player. He was 2nd team all state and district player of yr runner up.
