Warren Local at Waterford Saturday night. Should be a very interesting match-up. May have to check that one out if I don't have to scout.

Love that Waterford gym. I have some great memories refereeing games at Waterford.

I see where Warren was beaten by Parkersburg South last night. I think it was only their third loss of the season, the first two coming in a home-and-home series with Meadowbrook.

Watched Waterford play Fort Frye, they completely shut Anderson down. That worked well for them in that game. However, playing Warren you can't just shut down one player, there are four legitimate scores on the floor at any time for the Warriors. It will take a total team effort from the wildcats, both offensively and defensively to beat Warren. It is possible for the cats to get the win, they do have the weapons. But I see Warren winning by 6 to 10 points.

Fun game to watch. Warren's length bothered Waterford in the first half. Wildcats missed a ton of layups. And Waterford missed a ton of FTs down the stretch. Great game, though.

Recap from Warren/Waterford game Saturday evening played at Waterford.

Waterford led 12-11 after one quarter. Warren used trapping zone in second period to hold Wildcats to 4 points and lead 25-16 at the break. Warriors extended lead to 15 at one point, about midway through third quarter. Waterford kept battling and actually got back to as close as six points in the fourth quarter. Warriors then extended lead back to 13 before final margin of 10. Weihl was in foul trouble for the Warriors and probably only played around a half of game time. Trace Congleton and Jared Hall gave huge lifts for the Warriors with their defensive play and their playmaking on offense during the second quarter and third quarter run. Josh Huffman was a force inside and scored about every time he got the ball in the paint. Kyler Dennis was quiet early but stayed active and had a big second half. Waterford missed lots of open shots early in the game. Warren's defensive trapping definitely changed the momentum of the game and Waterford struggled for open looks for a while. As the game went on, Waterford seemed more comfortably offensively and Jordan Welch was a big reason why. He finished several shots inside and made several nice passes setting up teammates. Waterford's balanced attack got production from Isaac Huffman, Travis Pottmeyer, Tyler McCutcheon, Cody Harris, and Bryce Hilverding. The Wildcats struggled from the 3 pt line all evening. Waterford will be a very tough Division IV team to deal with as they have quickness and physical defense across the board. Missing the interior presence of Wyatt Lang defensively is a huge loss for them however. Huffman led the Warriors with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dennis had 23 points and Weihl 9 points and 7 rebounds. For Waterford, Welch had 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Huffman, McCutcheon, Pottmeyer all had 8 points each, and Hilverding had 7. It was a very well played game with two good teams.
