Waverly picking it up. Congrats to coach Robertson and Waverly for improving his late in the season!

No matter the talent, Robertson and staff coach their team to its ability for the WHOLE season!

However, coach Persin has oak hill rolling lately. Great mix of youth & experienced guard play. Not sure if coach ever loses a close game? They always come through!!

Oak Hill will score their typical 44-46 points
Waverly will score 2-4 points less. That is the "NORM" for the season with the Oaks. LOL

I know Oak a Hill has improved since the earlier game between these two at Oak Hill but Waverly is much improved as well. If Waverly can improve their FG % they have a shot to beat a lot of teams. Tomorrow in the jungle as the Downtown Arena will be rockin'!

Coach Robertson always gets the most out of the talent available. As an example….no one thought Waverly could knock off Oak Hill last year. But they did.

Everyone knew this year would be a challenge for the Tigers. But they're competitive and have won some games, all the while playing as many as four freshman. I say the Tigers are in this one until the end with the shot at victory.

The future is extremely bright for Waverly basketball.

The freshman team is winning games with the top 4 freshman not even playing on the freshman team. Those 4 freshman play about half the JV game and 2 to 3 quarters varsity. JV only has those 4 freshman half the game and two sophomores play varsity only and JV'S are still winning games. Varsity with one Senior, two Juniors, and two sophomores starting - a junior, two sophomores and 4 freshman off the bench. Possibly get Joe Henderson (Junior) back from injury soon.
Future is very bright for the Tigers but they have some unfinished business yet this season. It has taken some time for these young kids to learn who they are (still learning) and figuring out how to play together. They are still a work in progress, looking forward to their continued growth.

Oaks have there two senior guards. Two freshmen start and a third freshmen plays over half the game.it took a while to come together with the seniors carrying the load, there all starting to come together now playing a lot better.

Oak Hill's other starter the Swan kid is only a Junior. He is not a big scorer but is a very good ball handler and plays a very good game under the boards against much taller opponents. He is only 6'. Oak Hill big kid [ 6'5" ] has not been playing alot with Norm's style of offense plus he gets himself into foul trouble quick.

Yes Cody Swann has hit some big shots the last couple games to loosen up the defense. If he continues to do that it helps the oaks tremendously.

Oak Hill did have a bunch of lay ups. Oak Hill's style of ball movement just wears a defense out and creates lay ups. Waverly played a good game, but Oak Hill just never let up. The Swan kid had a good night with a game high 15 points, also the big Fleming kid had probably his best game this year. The Chapman kid from Waverly is a very good ball player also.

You could tell from pre-game warm-ups that Oak Hill was shooting better than Waverly and that continued throughout the game. Waverly had good ball movement early to give Chapman easy shots in the paint, but once he was subbed out they never got back to that and Chapman was cold the rest of the game. Waverly did not hit many outside shots until late in the game and Oak Hill missed very few of their outside attempts. Oak Hill did a much better job of creating the easy layups with their movement than Waverly did.

Waverly up 11-7 when Chapman went out with 1:43 left in the first. Oak Hill finished the quarter on a 6-0 run to lead 13-11 after one and continued the run to the tune of 12-0. Tigers stopped the bleeding at the 6:00 Mark of the 2nd to make it 19-13 but Oak Hill responded with a 7-0 run to go up 26-13. Waverly was able to cut it to 9 at the break and even 5 at the end of 3 at 45-40 on a half court buzzer beater 3 by Jake Henderson but Oak a Hill once again answered with a little run. Waverly could never get a run going, Oak Hill too disciplined.

The oaks are very disiplined. They also played very unselfish last night. Fleming didnt start but came in to slow chapman down, and played a good game, on both sides of the ball. Swann stepped up and hit some big shots early. Harrison and Cox done a great job defending Garrett and Henderson. Cox usuallydraws double teams and scores double figures only took around 5 shots ended up with 7 pts, but had 10 or 11 assist. They are a young group with 2 experienced senior guards ( Cox and Harrison) This team is getting better each game .
