Matt Combs earns 300th win at Vinton County

With Vinton County’s 55-44 victory over the Southeastern Panthers last night, Matt Combs win total, at Vinton County, has hit 300. Coach Combs took over a program that had only 2 conference championships in 30+ years, zero district titles, and a season record win mark of only 16 games. All of that has changed since 2000. Numerous TVC championships, sectional titles and 3 district trophies to go along with a regional runner up has put VC as one of the premier programs in SEO. Congratulations to a great Coach and a personal mentor to myself and many others who have played under him in either basketball, baseball or golf.

Dundas is absolutely correct Coach Combs has made the Vinton County basketball PROGRAM one that when anyone talks basketball Below the Lancaster-Dixon , when you talk the best programs year to year Vinton County is at the top of that conversation ... one of the best "preparers" of a team for games anywhere ...put that together with the "in-game" and "half time" adjustments he is known for, add that up and you have a winning coach, winning program ... thats a tough one because I did not get to see the games that Bethal and guys like that played in, but if I had to make a list it would be this:
1. 2016-2017 team, the elite eight team (27-3)
2. the 2008 district championship team (22-2)
3. the 2015-2016 the other district championship team (21-5)
4. the 2003-2004 team (20-4)
5. the 2006-2007 team, went undefeated during the regular season (22-1)
