Back in the day, my baseball coaches would put a 12 pack in the water cooler that we drank out of. After the game, most of the water was drank and the coaches had a nice little treat while they worked on the field, once all the kids left.

If this went on today, they would be run out of town. But back then, not a one of us thought a thing about it. Times change.

As for this coach, I do not know him personally, but the most serious infraction is that he consumed on school property. He consumes anywhere else, he gets a slap on the wrist. But if this is true, as I have read on here, he will most likely lose his current teaching position, and will be in jeopardy of losing his license. My guess is that he will have to submit to some sort of professional development on policy/law, complete some sort of drug and alcohol dependency program (even though it doesn't sound like he has a dependency issue), and then he will be permitted to regain his teaching eligibility.

I was 9 when I drank my first beer. My little league baseball coach gave it to me after we won the intramural championship.

If I was from Washington courthouse I would be totally embarrassed of this activity. Coach needs fired and find someone that’s is a role model not a immature leader with no maturity. If I had a son in program no way I would allow him to play for a guy like this

The young man is a great man that made a stupid decision. If you knew him you'd hope your kid turns out like him and learns from his/her mistakes like he will. My son played for him and loved him and I know him personally. I'd bet his character vs. anyone else's and would win far more times than I would lose.

Wishing him well, there or somewhere else. Sounds like he deserves a 2nd chance somewhere

Is the current AD still the interim coach? If so it sounds like the kids are playing really hard for him.

It’s not the AD. I think it’s the guy that was coaching the girls team.

Correct. Ryan Day was named as the interim head coach.
