2021 Beast of the Southeast

Post by mattash »

Games already booked? What a great atmosphere, almost convo like.

If not booked top teams should try to get in, it's really a great showcase.

Next years card that would be awsome

12PM Oak Hill v Eastern Brown (D clinic)
2PM Peebles v Trimble again
4PM Alex v Portsmouth or Burg (should be good)
6PM Peake (top 8) v Glenwood (top 8)
8PM Fairland (prob #1 team) v Waverly rematch

I think Unioto returns most of their players. Their style vs Fairland could be a fun 46-41 game

We actually lose quite a bit but should still be decent

Wrong again. Sometimes I’m wrong.

We do return one of the top 5 pg’s in the district and another starter. We also go 9-10 deep this year so we’ll have other guys step up.

Oak Hill loses 7 seniors. They will be down next year. I'm going to guess they will look a lot different next year on and off the court. JMO

Alot has to do with quality of underclassmen coming up. How do all the reserve teams look. Is there quality and basketball knowledge coming up. Some team concepts are taught the same from 6th grade up. Being able to plug in a few pieces to continue the tradition. Some good programs reload.

Fairland has 1 senior on the roster I expect them to be even better next year. The porter kid is really good and Thomas will be back.

I think Pfloyd should just speak the games into existence.

Coach Davis and the committee based on my attendance of the Beasts of the Southeast over the years schedules teams locally and has a connection with the teams in the SHAC as Chesapeake has always played in the Dave Young Classic at North Adams which is usually the weekend following the Beasts ... with THAT in mind I see next years match-ups of some quality teams (looking into my crystal ball, seeing the potential for next year in the teams) here's my match-ups for next season (all quality teams to be AGAIN) :

(Coach Cox)New Boston vs Federal Hocking (Coach Thompson)
(Coach Beucler) Eastern Brown vs Warren Local (Coach Maddox)
(Coach Howie) Trimble vs Peebles (Coach Arey)
(Coach Davis) Chesapeake vs North Adams (Coach Copas)
(Coach Speed) Fairland vs Waverly (Coach Robertson) ...

Coach Ryan Davis coached at Peebles for three or Four years on the early 2000s. Then I believe he went back to Alex and then to Cheapeake. Before that I'm pretty sure he coached at a Christian School in Indiana that he took pretty far in the Indiana State tourny. My boy and my niece had him as a history teacher at Peebles. It was about the same time that Mr. Ruckel was principle there. I really liked him as a coach then. Still do.

Coach Davis coached in Indiana - leading his Jeffersonville IN team to a regional appearance I believe, went to KY, then at Peebles for a few years - so he definitely got to know Coach Young ... I met Coach Young in 2010 at the Beasts of the Southeast - he gave me a T-shirt ! ...

I taught with his wife for 15 years. She’ll be at the classic I’m sure.
