Games at Athens, so Athens will win. Now, if those "danged Glouster refs" are involved, it could be a different story.

Alex should not lose way to much fire power for Athens.

Perhaps both teams were looking ahead to Friday, both coming off Tuesday night losses. Yikes

Not buying that with Alexander. I thought Marietta might be a trap game of sorts for Athens.

Perhaps both teams played quality opponents on Tuesday, leading to Tuesday night losses.

Because it was sort of an irrelevant game in the grand scheme of things. Not a league game and not even in the same division.

Not buying it. Every game is relevant right now for tournament seeding. That would’ve been a huge notch for Alex if they beat Jackson. Also Athens is inferior to Jackson at this moment. I’ve never heard of a team overlook an opponent for and inferior team.

Happens all the time. What amounts to a possible league championship game three days later. Sorry, a non league game against a team not even in your division takes a back seat.

I have a feeling this would have been a big game if won and not a big deal if lost

Alexander was the probable 2 or 3 seed.....lost and are likely the 6 or 7 seed. Huge crowd they brought for a somewhat irrelevant game.

This thread was actually started same day as Alex/Jax, on Saturday. People were talking about Fridays game before Tuesdays was even played. Lol

The loss to D2 Jackson wont affect Alexander's seeding much. They have the win over D3 Eastern Brown to hang their hat on .

Crazy you don’t think that performance won’t drop them when 2-7 are insanely close.

Should be a good game since both are coming off L’s. At least Athens knows it’s weakness is the press. So many turnovers. I knew Athens at Marietta would be close since it always is. I’m surprised Alexander got destroyed by Jackson

Do you think your loss to Chillicothe will matter that much? I don't.
Same exact scenario.
Losing to a top team in a division higher.

So why not just only schedule non conference games a division up so none of the losses matter?

And that loss to Jackson for Alex was more than just a loss. They undressed them

Losses always matter. Seeding is always based on wins

It’s not the same because D2 2-7 isn’t as jumbled as D3 2-7 seeds. The world thought Jackson would lose by double digits to Chillicothe, more than half had Alexander winning at Jackson.

Alexander doesn’t have Eastern Brown win to fall on because that game was somewhat irrelevant in the grand scheme of things....therefore moo

The Eastern Brown game means everything since it was a game between two teams fighting for a similar top seed in DIII.

It's no different than when Athens lost to Logan Elm Burrow's junior year early in the season, which dropped them into a situation where they had to play Warren in Logan. That ONE game was EVRYTHING that year. Same exact situation as Alex/EB

The Athens loss to ASVSM that year had ZERO ramifications on seeding. Jackson's loss to Chillicothe won't have much of an impact. Our D2 teams that lost to Logan last year did not have much impact. If Trimble losses to Alexander in a few weeks, it won't have much impact either.
