Chillicothe 51 St Charles 54 final

Post by Ohio1234 »

Chillicothe did not shoot the 3 ball well and struggled to find a rhythm in this one to lose its second game of the year no cam smith tonight hurt but what hurt the most was the officiating Chillicothe got absolutely no call Noel and Maughmer were hacked all night long .

Alright then! now we have a better picture as to HOW the Cavs lose to St Charles tonight by 3 !!! Cam Smith IS a BIG part of the Chillicothe offense - 4 legitimate double digit scorers WITH Smith/ rains 3's from behind the arc - Cavs w/o Smith strike one - especially when going up against size in the paint ... Cavs HAD the lead when St Charles went on the 7-0 run to close it out at home vs Chilli ... Cavs do not have a bench to fill the shoes of ANY of the starters ... Smith IS THE outside perimeter scorer for CHS - Beard IS the known perimeter scorer but Smith gets many of the open shots on the perimeter as the opponents MUST put their better defensive players on Maughmer/Beard & Noel ... losing by 3 on the road without their compliment of players/starters - answers how this one happened ...

No Smith hurt but man we have to beat that team regardless. Not good.

Tough loss. Ed is correct, Chillicothe was the favorite that game even without Smith.

Don't get me wrong, St Charles is solid....... but in terms of D1 teams in the Central District they rank in the 12-15 range.

Fu beat st charles and I was told st charles big men were big but unathletic and lazy. I thought chilli would beat them handily. Basketball, and matchups, and weird sometimes though.

Definitely makes a difference though when you're missing a main shooter and the bench doesn't pick that up. Chilli will be fine, but I'd assume the loss hurts their seed. Last week, the 270 guys were thinking they were looking at a 4-7 seed, but probably not now.

Maybe can get some redemption against Upper Arlington on the 25th. Right now they are 7-7 in probably the best conference in the state.

I watched the last 30 seconds streamed live on FB.
Really disappointing with the play call coming out of a full timeout. Our game plan was get the ball to Beard and let him drive from 3 and make a play.
Then after another full timeout (after fouling sending SC to the line for 1-1) they made both and we took the ball out with 7.9 seconds left. Jayvon ended up shooting a 3 quickly because time was about to expire.

1. why is beard your go to down 1 with 15 seconds left? we got a kid going D1 and another capable but chose to go play with his brother.
2. after another full timeout you need two scenarios coming out. They make both, they miss the first or second. They looked completely lost.

All 3 are capable of putting away a game. Maybe Beard had the lesser of the other defenders on him.

They have to beat UA. Beating CW would help too, cause they're having a pretty nice season.

Don’t think it ultimately matters, though. For right or for wrong, the Central District coaches have no imperative nor would feel any obligation to try and vote Chillicothe in a manner that best reflects where they stand among the district teams. Not all the coaches are going to put the 15-20 minutes of thought and carefulness researching past the OCC.
