Matthew Fraulini of Portsmouth scored 21 points vs. Chesapeake last night, and now is only 27 points shy of 1,000.

Beergogglebluez: There was some conflicting numbers as to Matthew's exact total. The current total of 973 points as far as I know is accurate.

Oh ok. I read 19 the other day. I’m sure he will still get it. Thanks for the update. I’ll be at Fairland Friday to take the game in.

Matthew Fraulini scored 26 points at Fairland last night 1/24 and is now only 1 point short of 1,000. PHS plays Rock Hill at PHS on Tuesday. Last year Fraulini scored a school record 46 points vs. RH at PHS.

Congratulations to Matthew Fraulini of Portsmouth for becoming the 9th player in Trojan history to score 1,000 points. He now stands at 1,018 after his 19 point performance vs. Rock Hill. The #8 scorer, Damond Mannon (1992), scored 1,057 points, while the Dion McKinley (2012) and Wayne Evans (2012) both are tied for 7th with 1,096 points each.

After finishing the research on one of Portsmouth's all time greats, Patrick Tubbs, who started at PG from 1986-1988, he scored 1,297 points for his career, 41 ahead of another great Trojan, Jeff Lisath. Tubbs is now the 5th leading scorer in PHS history and officially the 10th player to join the coveted 1,000 point club at Portsmouth. His brother, Craig, is the 2nd leading scorer in PHS history with 1,485 points, while Kyre Allison is tops with 1,688 points.

It’s a little easier to reach 1000 pts today with the increase in regular season games from 20 to 22. If you start as a freshman that’s 8 more games.

Slight advantage, yes. The key advantage is a deep tournament run. Making the Regional Finals can be another 6 games added onto a 22 game season, making a total of 28 games. State Finals of course would be 30 games total. It's obviously very hard to go that deep or even close to that deep, but the guys in the history books with the most points almost always have some deep runs added in.

Nonetheless, still a great accomplishment for any young man or woman who reaches the 1000 point milestone.
