I know Coach Cox gets a lot of shade thrown at him on here but one thing is for sure he has his kids playing high level basketball right now and he does a great job of promoting his team.

I don't think their seed matters. They are clearly better than most D4 teams - and with 2 heading to the regionals - they are probably in good shape.

But I'm gonna guess Columbus Grove, Berlin Highland or even Rosecrans are not Wellston, so enjoy the 100 point games now. ;)

It's pretty rare at least in this part of the State that a High School team even gets close to scoring a 100 pts. I understand the playing the starters maybe a little too long, or even pressing after the game is well in hand, but if every kid that is dressed and is on the bench has played or is playing, you can't really tell your kids to stop playing. Wellston scored a fair number of points themselves, so it's not like a few scores that I have seen posted earlier in the year of some games up in the Columbus city league, where the Final scores were 100 or more to less than 10pts. Regardless of how much we discuss this, there will be different opinions on this and people on each side of the fence. I would say that NB is not the first, and most certainly will not be the last team to try to score 100 if given the chance.

I liked a game between Peebles and Piketons girls years back when both scored in the 90s. Final was like 97-96. Awesome non stop action. I believe it was 1998 when Peebles girls made it to the state final game.

I've watched all the games at the Convo and beyond when my team was 5-15 and out in the first round - or finished 19-1 and played for a district championship. Makes no difference to me.

And I'll cheer for NB if they are one of our last SE district teams playing.

Nope. I don’t see any deep run out of this team.
Thought coach would get more out of this group.
Division I is a totally different animal. If Coach Huffer gets them through the sectional, that's a good season for the Cavaliers.

Look out for North Adams now that Young is back. Also they will get some quality minutes out of some very good reserve players. I see them getting deeper where they need it.
Shout out to Coach Copas on the win and prayers out to him and his family heard his father passed away earlier in the day.

Didn't your team lose to some of the teams on this schedule. Just put us on your schedule next season. We will play anybody.

Welp, didn’t quite make it
New Boston played nine players in the first quarter and a total of fifteen players overall.
Wellston is not Sciotoville East, they were bigger and stronger from looking at them. Up 30 pressing is a issue for you? Lmbo! You guys on here are so comical, stuck in the Scioto county bubble smh. Oh don’t press when you’re up 20-30pts, get outta here with that. I not from around here and basketball down here doesn’t get a lot of respect in OHIO, it’s not very competitive compared to the teams that are in and around the bigger cities. so to see a team that seems like they’re preparing for those teams is good to see, because at the end it would be nice to have a southern Ohio team representing the area and try to compete with those more competitive teams. Ridiculous you guys try to find a reason to talk bad, you only went to the game because you thought Wellston was gonna beat Nee Boston...🤣🤣 New Boston if you’re reading this please continue to play hard and never dumb down to an opponent, always play with respect and good sportsmanship but that don’t mean stop doing what you do. Good luck the rest of the season ( this is coming from someone who was all state in Ohio 2 years in a row D-2 school and went on and played ball at Cal. Bakersfield and Shawnee State and was all conference with both teams) so don’t play attention to those other guys who think they’re top notch critics and know what it takes to accomplish that State final four goal. Again good luck, have fun and keep getting better. 💯👍

Were they up more than say 30 and pressing?

I love when people don’t know how to reply to posts they are quoting

Maybe NB should focus on running their offenses through when they are up 30 or how to play super disciplined half court D in those situations, you know, for when they play elite level teams.

Only scoring in the 40’s against a higher level team (in our area) like Peebles shows that maybe the half court game needs worked on. And giving up over 60 points multiple times this month to middle of the road teams also should point out some defensive flaws that can be addressed in these situations.

Or just impose your will on awful teams and hope that works before getting beat in the regionals.
