Since moving on From Scott Lowe about 15 years ago how many coaches has Valley gone through?

It wasn’t meant as a dig at anyone either. The guy who coached them in youth ball did a real nice job...assumed he was one of the dads

This comes as a surprise. Only made about half the games and there were some questionable lineups IMO, but it surprises me they made a move. I know when I walked out of multiple games that people seemed aggravated, even after wins. I don’t have a dog in the fight, my boys have moved on but it will be interesting to see who they get. Not many applied a few years ago.

It’s been gone over here ad nauseam. People get 2nd chances and I hope this coach does.

Easy to use a different username but it’s hard to hide a pile of insecurities.

Northwest and Valley both being open is tough on those kids in that common area. It will be interesting to see how the dominos tumble.

Valley going to draw HUGE interest from area coaches with the talent coming up and now being in D4. This hire will be big cause there have been some rumblings about some players not being happy and looking around. Question for crab's bro (or anybody else in the know): does the new hire have to be a teacher too?*

That's 2 of us. CS would be a great addition to ANY program and hope he gets that chance again.*

Genuinely feel bad for Eric. Politics got the best of him and that is a shame. This all happened behind his back and this has to be a shock to him. He is a Valley graduate and put a lot of effort into the program. This couldn’t be about wins/losses, also will say there was no program trouble the past few years. A select few of individuals were behind this. It’s sad that the school administrators were not apart of this group. Hope the main one behind this does not get the job. This is not a good look for Valley. Going to become a job that no one wants, and not because of the kids or resources, but because of the support group behind them, the school board that is. Wish Eric nothing but the best.

No Question Coach Horton got stabbed in the back on this one! I feel bad for him but you have to look at who is behind it. It makes sense! This was a backdoor deal from the beginning. You can only hope the decision-makers at Valley get what is coming to them!

So much for doing what is best for kids. Whether you were for Horton or against him, teaching kids that backdoor politics is how to run a school is not in the best interest of kids. There is nothing positive about that.

To my knowledge there was no evaluations from immediate supervisors, no feedback, he was not told of any areas to address or improve on. Nothing!! This was ignited by the board for education personal reasons and the administration did not go to bat for him.

This coach is not an outsider. He is a Valley alum!

Valley has just turned itself in a lower tier school district! Their record speaks for itself. Living in the Past!

Will also say that this has been in the works for a while now. The fact that a board member was openly sharing this information to the point where it was getting out is very unprofessional. This information should stay within the BOE circle. The decision was already made before the vote took place.

Far too many people like this on school boards. Take your vote seriously people. One of the most important positions in this country. When you start voting qualifications and NOT popularity, then schools will improve !

I am around the community, go to multiple games, and had kids play sports at Valley and I had not heard this from any board members. I had heard quite a few people being upset, not just parents, but I did not know the extent. I text a someone who has a kid on the team and he was not surprised. There's more here than meets the eye in my opinion. You do not want to see anyone lose their job but there's more to this than back door politics from what I was told. I just wish Eric well in the future.

With the talent coming up I would think the Northwest job would be a desirable one.

Northwest will draw a lot of interest with the talent coming up, but new coach gonna have to change the culture there as well as it been awhile since they been successful. I'd rank desirability of current openings as follows:

1. Valley
2. Alexander
3. Northwest
4. Wellston
5. Oak Hill

Valley in D4 puts them above the others.*

100% agree on changing the culture at Northwest. One thing I have noticed is alot of the young kids really look up to the current 8th grade group. That group has a really good work ethic and are willing to put in the work. I believe the younger kids will follow their lead. That group are not just athletes they are better kids and students.

What's Northwest's approach, the job isn't posted on OHSAA as it wasn't the last time it opened either. This leads me to believe that this will another hire from within the NW buddy system.
