I copied this from the thread concerning the memo sent to Basketball Coaches from the OHSAA June 1 :
Reminder: May 26th-August 31 (2020 only)
Below is the list of regulation changes that will affect how you can coach from June 1-August 31.
1. The 10-day rule has been eliminated
2. The 50% limitation has been eliminated
3. The August no-contact period has been eliminated
... with this memo schools are NOT limited to the 10 days of contact THIS summer?, basketball can continue into August ?
... I saw where the Caldwell Shootout is now scheduled for July 11th with a number of SE District teams participating ... Where and When are other schools doing shootouts this summer with apparently ALL summer in play now ...
Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
Re: Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
But how about the schools who are without head coaches and staff? This is a circus of administrative decisions. Don't get me wrong, most, if not all districts are clueless on what they are going to allow coaches to do at any point. Summer time is prime time, but the days are clicking off one right after another.
Re: Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
Yeap. And your right, the splineless administrators/school boards are the distruction of many athletic programs !
Re: Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
Looks like Caldwell is the ONLY school allowing for summer Shootout? July 11th ... apparently not all schools are even allowing teams to participate in shootouts this summer ... teams doing individual workouts, weightlifting , team practices with limited numbers of players ... waiting to hear if Logan will hold it's Big Shootout using the Chieftain Center this summer - last summer the CC was not complete so it could not be used - this summer it's good to go BUT no clearance to have it happen ? ... hoping to see some schools open up for summer shootouts - July may be the month - juggling hoops & football ...

Hoping to get good news from OHSAA soon saying we are allowed to return to play in July. We have a full field set if permitted. What that may look like is TBD. No idea if we are given clearance if that will be a no fans or social distanced arrangement. Either way, we’re just hoping to restore some normalcy and get the kids back on the floor together before fall sports begin.pfloyd wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:15 pm Looks like Caldwell is the ONLY school allowing for summer Shootout? Summer basketball is an important team building time and a great time for growth, especially for the young guys. Many schools host shootouts and camps which fund boosters programs so not having them will have a significant financial impact as well.

Re: Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
Unfortunately we have to cancel the shootout. A non-basketball staff member contracted COVID on vacation and attended a workout for their sport, we are shut down for the next two weeks, we are the 7th OVAC school to experience this in the past week. If this is going to be the standard response then athletics may be in big trouble this year.
Re: Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
I understand Marietta College is having their 3 day team camp for JV/Varsity ? Can anyone confirm ? Any details on this or results. Hopefully everyone stays healthy there, if true.
Re: Summer Shootouts ? Where? and When?...
I believe Meadowbrook won the Marietta college team camp. Any truth to this ? How many teams were there ?
