A lot of chatter about Trimble and Fed Hock, but Athens & Vinton County quietly have a huge game Tuesday on The Plains. Both still unbeaten in the Ohio Division.

That's called superior coaching. I can think of a different team in the area that does less with more talent routinely.

2021 updated TVC-Hocking standings.

It still appears to be 2-team race as both Trimble and Federal Hocking remained unbeaten in the Hocking Division. The two teams will play their 1st meeting of the season this Friday in Glouster. Trimble will be coming off a loss to Chesapeake, but has all week to prepare for the Lancers with no game on Tuesday. Federal Hocking meanwhile has won 5 straight games and will have a league tilt versus Southern Tuesday, before traveling to William White Gymnasium Friday night. Both Federal Hocking and Trimble have tough turn-around games on Saturday with the Tomcats heading to Athens and the Lancers taking on South Gallia in a covid make-up date in Stewart.

Trimble (6-2),(5-0)
Federal Hocking (5-1),(2-0)
Belpre (5-6),(3-2)
South Gallia (5-3),(1-2)
Waterford (2-3),(1-2)
Southern (0-8),(0-4)
Eastern (0-5),(0-2)

Athens took the lead in the Ohio Division standings with a thrilling last second 54-51 win over Vinton County on Tuesday. The Bulldogs followed that up with a blowout victory over (6-3) River Valley Friday night on The Plains. They will take a break from league play this Tuesday when they play host to Marietta before heading over to The Alley Friday vs Alexander. Athens concludes the week with an interesting cross county match-up with Trimble Saturday night at McAfee Gymnasium. Nelsonville-York is currently quarantined and will not return to the court until Jan. 19th and Meigs is as well. The Marauders next game won't be until Jan. 22nd.

Athens (6-4), (4-0)
Vinton County (6-3),(4-1)
Alexander (3-4),(3-2)
Meigs (3-6),(2-2)
River Valley (6-3),(2-3)
Wellston (3-3),(0-2)
Nelsonville-York (3-7),(0-4)

TVC-Hocking standings at the midway point on Jan. 17th.

It remains a two team race as both Trimble and Federal Hocking have yet to lose a conference game this year - but that will all change this Thursday night when the two teams FINALLY square off. The Lancers were quarantined for a 2nd time this season, pushing their long awaited showdown with the 'Cats back another week. Trimble defeated Ohio Division leader Athens 60-56 Saturday and will face Miller this coming Tuesday in Glouster. The Tomcats will play an astounding FOUR games in FIVE days next week starting with Miller, then Fed Hock Thursday, Eastern Friday, and then at Nelsonville-York on Saturday. The Lancers meanwhile will also have a brutal stretch of games next week taking on Trimble Thursday, Belpre Friday, and then concluding the week with Athens on Saturday night in Stewart. Also in the Hocking last week Southern picked up its first win of the season beating Eastern and Waterford surprised Belpre 54-51 t move into 3rd place.

Trimble (7-2),(5-0)
Federal Hocking (5-1),(2-0)
Waterford (4-4),(3-2)
South Gallia (6-4),(2-2)
Belpre (6-7),(3-3)
Southern (1-9),(1-4)
Eastern (0-9),(0-5)

Athens didn't even play Belpre.

As for losing to Trimble and Federal Hocking - i'd bet on either of those teams to beat any team in the Ohio Division this year.
