I don’t like we are playing Fed Hock after a loss from a long lay off

I'd rather play rested than play a 3rd night in a row. lol

After last night's game, which was incredibly intense, Fed has to come back and play an aggressive Belpre team tonight before taking on Athens tomorrow.

Athens 20 16 19 15 - 70
Fed Hock 12 26 18 20 - 75

Great game in Stewart as both teams played one of their better games of the season. Athens jumped out to a 20-12 first quarter lead, but Fed outscored the Bulldogs 26-16 in the 2nd Q to take a 2-point lead into the locker rooms for halftime. Senior Nathaniel Massie led the charge in the 2nd knocking down three treys. Athens looked to be taking control of the game in the 3rd before 5'7 freshman Tariq Cottrill drained back-to-back-to-back threes before draining another in the corner to give Federal Hocking a 57-55 advantage after the 3rd frame. The see-saw affair continued into the 4th, but it was Massie again draining two long threes and scoring 8 total points in the quarter to eventually help give the Lancers an important 77-70 win.

Federal Hocking (6-2)

Lane Smith - 7pts, 5 reb
(freshman) Tariq Cottrill - 14pts (4 treys)
Hunter Smith - 7pts (quiet night for their leading scorer and fouled out with 4 minutes remaining)
Wes Carpenter - 2pts
Collin Jarvis - 6 pts
Nathaniel Masie - 29 pts (game high and drained 7 three pointers and grabbed 5 boards)
Elijah Lucas - 8 pts, 7 reb
Tyler Rogers - 3 pts

Athens (8-7)

Jacob Sayers - 6 pts, 8 rebounds
Will Matters - 13 pts (3 treys)
Trey Harris - 6 pts
Brayden Whiting - 29 pts (game high. 3 treys, 6 boards)
Derek Welch - 13 pts, 6 boards, 3 blocks
Shane McDade - 3 pts

Federal Hocking as a team nailed 14 three pointers in the game
Athens dropped in 8 from behind the arc.

Federal Hocking had 16 turnovers
Athens had 21 turnovers

Federal Hocking was 3-for-9 from the foul line
Athens was 7-for-9

2 losses against the “weak” Hocking division of the TVC. Athens should be dominant against those steam.

What a great game by both squads, you hate to see either team lose in a game like this one. Kudos to both squads! Coach Thompson, congratulations with your young squad, things are only going to get better as they gain more experience. Nice win for the Lancers!

Bulldog84 ... Basketball is not football, having more boys in the school doesn't mean as much when you only need 6 or 7 basketball players. Harvest Prep and Africentric barely have any boys at all in the school and they would smoke most teams in southeastern Ohio.

In fact, if you have watched both Athens and Fed this year, you'd know Federal Hocking is the deeper team and just as big if not bigger than Athens from top to bottom. Lukas 6'5, Rogers 6'4, Massie 6'2, Carpenter 6'1, Lane Smith 6'2, Jarvis 6'1 and even Hunter Smith at 6'0 plays much bigger. They have three players who can throw it down and Fed will run 8, 9 or even 10 guys onto the floor during a game.

Trimble and Fed Hock are two of the better SEO basketball schools. Both coaches are great. Thompson has built a great program at Fed Hock after they were pretty bad

TVC big school vs TVC Hocking small school in 2020/2021

Trimble 60, Athens 56
Fed Hock 77, Athens 70
Trimble 83, Nelsonville 40
Belpre 85, Nelsonville 44
Trimble 63, Nelsonville 38
Fed Hock 74, Alexander 36
Belpre 68, Alexander 49
Belpre 62, Meigs 61
South Gallia 67, River Valley 62

The Ohio do have wins, but 7 of the 9 are versus Eastern and Southern, who are a combined (2-20). The only wins worth mentioning are River Valley 54-44 over South Gallia in previous match-up and Wellston's 51-35 win over Belpre. That's it.

Looks like to me by post of 93Bulldog post that the Ohio division is the 'WEAK' division of the TVC

I don't ever like to use the word "weak"

There have been numerous times the Ohio was a little down compared to the Hocking Division, but the question always was "can the best in the Hocking beat the best in the Ohio?" ... And since Athens and or VC never played them, the question never got answered. This year, however, those games did take place and the Hocking grabbed bragging rights for at least a season.

And it's really how you perceive the cross over conference games/records. Technically there have been 18 games between the Ohio and Hocking this year and the records are even (9-9). But as I pointed our, 7 of the 9 wins for the Ohio came against Eastern and Southern.

Where did you read Athens lost at Belpre? The only reason Athens is playing a Hocking Division school(s) this year is because both Fed & Trimble are in Athens County and both very good. They wouldn't play Belpre or Eastern or South Gallia, etc ...

You VC people are delusional. The league is always “down” when VC is down
