Hillsboro at Waverly Saturday at 4:00p.m.

Post by smurray »

This one is VARSITY ONLY. Last minute tune up before the tournament next week.
Much debate was made about who deserved the 3 seed, and maybe one of them deserved the 2. Some had Hillsboro at 2 while others thought Waverly was deserving of the 2. I think it played out how most thought it would play out, whether they agreed or not.
Waverly got back in the gym yesterday, the first time since last Friday’s game. They’ll go at 3:00 today and then a final prep on Friday.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this one?

My thought is that both teams and coaches will want to win but this will not be a sellout game for anyone. Neither team is in rhythm at all with games and practices...both teams are very good.

Waverly at home should be the difference.

I think if these two teams meet later on that this matchup benefits Hillsboro more than Waverly

Should have known Waverly would not play Unioto. Been dodging us since that football beating last year

I think Waverly wins, but Hillsboro’s ability to get 4-5 guys in double figures gives them really good balance, which could make a difference in a game where nobody is fully locked in.

I bet there’s 100 foul shots taken in this game

It’ll be 26 and somebody will be up 5 with like 2 seconds left and get fouled. One of those dumb ways to hit the over.

Yeah it’ll probably be decently over but officiating crew would have a decent say.

I’ll guess foul shots at about 21 but then Boro fouls Trey on purpose for one one ones with under a minute left

Little birdy says Waverly reached out. The U took a pass. Used to play every year? 🤷‍♂️

Haven’t played in years. The series is 4-4, including tournament games. So not every year.

Played back to back years, Unioto won by 38 and 24, then was dropped from the schedule. Waverly attempted to get it back once they improved, but our AD passed for Hillsboro, I believe.

Waverly-Unioto-Jackson should play every season in every sport for non-league competition

In most years Jackson would dominate football against the U and Waverly, but I agree the teams need to play in all sports. Easy travel, good gates in normal times, and the potential for new or renewed rivalries.

But most years Unioto would win softball, volleyball, golf, XC, Tennis, track, soccer

We’d beat Unioto most every year in football and some bad but there are a lot of sports and football might be the only one not greatly competitive
