R.I.P. Matthew Orin

Post by LucasDavenport »

One of our Finest from SE District - had the State Assignment 5 years ago for the New Concord John Glenn upset over ASVSM.

Passed away last night - he was attending a wedding in Lexington (my wife and I were also there) and I spoke to him in the interim between Wedding and Reception and he was telling me how hot he was (it was warm in the hallways) - and then how nice it felt in the area where the reception was and we ended up at different tables. (There were a nice number of South Webster people in attendance).

He passed away on the way home as they couldn’t awaken him (luckily he wasn’t driving) and they could not revive him at the hospital. His wife Kaci was at his side last night and his little girl (maybe 5 or so years old) was at home.

Prayers for his family.

R.I.P. Matthew Orin.

He was one of the best officials in our area. Took it very seriously and cared about the craft. Tough day

That’s awful to hear. He was a top level official and didn’t take nights off.

Saw this on FB yesterday. Shocked and saddened by this news ... Matt was a truly "good" guy, as has been posted he took his role as an "official" seriously as he was one of the best of the best at his craft ... on FB he was in a group picture with a host of SEO officials, he, as with all of the SEO officials, would always give me a shoutout when our paths crossed courtside somewhere Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ... my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends along with the fraternity of officials in SEO who are a family/community within themselves - all dealing with a great loss ... - pfloyd

Matt was a great official, a colleague, a fellow teacher with me at western, and a friend. It is hard to believe he is gone. Western has lost a great special education teacher who was dedicated to his craft and the kids loved. He will be hard to replace! RIP brother! Love ya!

Always hate to hear news like this. A younger guy gone too soon. A Good referee, who worked many of our son's games. Thoughts and prayers for his family.
