WAVERLY TIGERS 2021-2022

Post by smurray »

Waverly sits atop Pfloyds Preseason Elite 8.
Tigers returns Trey Robertson, Mark Stulley, Will Futhey, Wade Futhey & Hudson Kelly. Add freshman Braylon Robertson and Senior Penn Morrison along with a couple from last years JV squad.

I’ll get the scrimmage schedule and updated regular season schedule as well as full roster.

From a parent at the scrimmage:

🧡🖤Waverly Tigers Basketball🧡🖤
First scrimmage: We played five 12 minute sessions and went 5-0. We beat some good teams…Old Fort, Rossford, Afrocentric, West Carrollton and Chaminade Juliane!

Going to be exciting to watch this season. I'm thinking Waverly should be the favorite to win the conference, and the region.

They won’t win the region, but they’ll be very good

The schedule might give them a tougher road to a district title even, but they should win that too

Brother. Heck of an athlete. He will be a key contributor this year I’d say. Had a very nice freshman football campaign starting at LB. Extremely competitive and not scared of the moment.

Why would the schedule give them a tougher road to a district title?
Losing some of those games should not hurt their seeding - every coach in the district knows what kind of schedule that is. Playing those teams (most on the road) will prepare them for the tourney.
I don’t think losing in OT to Heath last year hurt their seeding. Losing to West at home however did cost them a couple spots.

Yes, he lead the Tiger defense in tackles and was just a beast as a freshman. He also handled some kicking and punting duties at different times. May see some RB and/or TE next year.

I would think playing this schedule should only help their seeding.

Strength of schedule is rarely, if ever, considered when coaches vote.
