I heard one of these two teams went ahead and ignored the "if a player is ejected from the last football game of the season, said student is ineligible to compete in the first game of the next sport in which the student participates" rule. Wouldn't have known that the kid played, except there's a tweet saying he received a Technical Foul in this game and also appears in the box score.

Yikes. That’s ridiculous. It isn’t even like that is a new rule, inexcusable for that to happen.
