Vinton County 61
Chillicothe 68 OT a final

... TVC vs FAC ... I've seen the CAVs in person vs Logan, watched them twice now via livestream ... Coach Beard has the Blue & White trending in the right direction! being D1, Chilli "ain't" going to make any noise in the OCC post season D1 party BUT the Cavs will have a say in who wins the FAC imo! ... usually when I evaluate a team offensively I'm looking for 3 solid scorers - a PG who can handle pressure while being able to distribute the ball, get to the rim / hit the 3 ball , I look to see if there is size in the paint - size that IS athletic enough to rebound/athletic enough to score on the blocks/ and if you are really lucky that big can step out and knock down a perimeter shot once in awhile ... out of the 3 scorers it even BETTER if one of those scorers is a "stretch forward" with length to defend/ size to help on the boards/ can get to the rim & finish AND hit the 3 ball ... the Cavs are sporting most of, if not ALL of that ... Michael Miller senior PG checks all of the boxes, Cam Hall might just be the best kept secret in SEO hoops - the young man is a baller! he can score from ANYWHERE - inside at the rim, hits the 3 ball, scores on the blocks with either hand, hits the midrange jumper - he has size/ at I'm guessing 6-3 ish ... a wingspan of someone 6-7'ish ... smooth with the ball ... add Avery Mowbray ANOTHER lean, forward with length, hits the midrange jumper at the elbow, and the 3 ball ... there's your 3 scorers ... bring on Christmas present transfer from Unioto Tayvion Galloway 6-5, soph ... a big inside presence on the defensive end - looking back as his performance last season at the U - the kid can score the ball ! ... the new and improved Cavalier squad has some good pieces !!! at this point in the season, with the pieces now on the floor ... they are getting better each time out imo ... where players were having to take on roles that had them out of position BEFORE TG ... players trying to do what they weren't necessarily comfortable doing BEFORE TG ... NOW everyone is figuring out new roles, doing what they are most comfortable doing ... are they top of the FAC material - nope BUT if I'm a Jackson, WCH, McClain, Hillsboro YOU BETTER BRING YOUR "A" game vs the 2022.02 edition of the Cavs ...

... Last nights game at Vinton County ... the Cavs jumped out early on the Vikings up 14-5 with 1:16 left in the opening quarter ... the aforementioned Cam Hall leading the way with 8 points in the quarter, Avery Mowbray added 5 with a triple and unmentioned swing man Aaron Valentine dropped a 3 ball as well ... neither team took care of the ball in the opening period as CHS had 6 miscues and the Vikings of Coach Combs fumbled the ball away 5 times ... VC hung on with 3 pointers from Braylon Damron and Jack Davidson ... along with a 2 pointer in the paint from Eli Radabaugh VC was able to stay within reach ... Chillicothe 16 Vinton County 8 after 1 ... IF you follow SEO hoops you know Coach Combs (in the 350 win area as the head man at VC), you KNOW that his teams scratch/claw in every game ... the Vikings turned up the D, found scoring IN THE PAINT from Ashtin Allman - the big lefty put the Viks on his broad shoulders hitting for 8 points on the blocks, with a help on drives from Eli Radabaugh (4pts)/ Zayne Karr (2 pts) ... VC matched the scoring of Mowbray (5 pts with a trey). 2 point buckets from Hall/Galloway and triple off the bench from Mason Siberell ... at :51 secs in the 2nd qtr a transition baseket by VC pulled the Viks into the lead at 24-23 ... CHS added 4 points to their total Cavs up 28-24 as time was running out in the half ... bring on Jack Davidson, off the bench, clock at less than 2 secs ... Davidson drains a halfcourt 3 pointer for the Vikings ... Vinton County 27 Chillicothe 28 at intermission ... Key napkin stats Cavs 10 TOs in the first half ... one would assume the TOs came on the perimeter from defensive pressure on the ball - not really - most of the 10 TOs for the Cavs were inside the paint feeding the post, on the post player unable to pass the ball down low ... for VC the BIG man in the middle Ashtin Allman - with his 8 points in the 2nd qtr. vs Galloway ... once VC got back in the game, they weren't going anywhere ... the 3rd period was tight as Vinton County put up 17 points to the Cavs 16 in the quarter ... VC was led by Bradin Cain off the bench with 8 points (2 triples), Eli Radabaugh adding 5 points and 2 each from Zayne Karr/Allman (2 FTs) ... for Chilli Cam Hall did it all - 11 pts with triple, Michael Miller a trey and a midrange jumper from the elbow by Mowbray ... both teams took better care of the ball with only 2 fumbles each ... Chillicothe 44 Vinton County 44 end of 3 ... during the 3rd quarter Hall picked up his 4th foul - big as the Cavs offense was shutdown as CHS only put up 10 points in the qtr. ... with scoring at a premium defense took over as the Cavs held VC to ... wait for it ... 10 points in the qtr. 7 coming from Karr's ball and 3 pointer from Braylon Damron ... this one on the scoreboard had VC taking a 47-44 lead at 6:47 ... by 2:15 on the clock it was knotted at 50-50 ... a timeout by CHS at 1:11 in regulation drew the Cavs to 52-53 VC ... Karr with a make/miss in the final minute and Hall with a make & a make put this one into OT ... Vinton County 54 Chillicothe 54 end of regulation ... the OT started with Cam Hall getting an "and 1" to give CHS the lead at 57-54 ... a pair of FTs from Damron, answered by Mowbray's jumper from the left elbow ... timeout VC trailing 56-59 with 2:18 to play ... the Cavs were done scoring fgs ... the remainder of their points coming from the line 10/16 in the OT period from the line , with the missed FTS giving VC the opportunity to cut leads to 2/1 possession but the shots wouldn't fall - a putback bucket from Allman made it a 5 point game at 58-63 Cavs ... FTS by Chillicothe and final 3 pointer from Karr ended this one in OT ... Chillicothe 68 Vinton County 61 a final in OT

Vinton County in this game 7/22 from 3 point land - 4 of the 7 three pointers came off the bench ... the biggest chunk of the 22 trey attempts came from the starters 3/15 ish or more ...
