Zane Trace 57
Unioto 36 a final

... a battle for the top spot in the SVC , ended up "not much of a battle" , maybe a skirmish or fire fight that was put down by the Pioneers early on ... the U , the Unioto school community has been through so much emotionally in the last 2 weeks ... tonight it looked like the stress, the emotional drain had caught up with the Unioto TEAM from the JV's through the Varsity - everyone had hit that emotional wall ... Zane Trace 57 Unioto 36 a final ...

... the goal in basketball is to outscore the opponent which would require putting the ball in the basket - the U was just not up to the task last night as the Sherman offense put up 8 pts in the 1st qtr, 7 in the 2nd, 10 in the 3rd and 11 in the 4th ... 36 points ... not nearly enough as ZT physically took advantage of the U at both ends of the court using their size to hold the U offense to 1 & done on the defensive end, while taking care of their own business on offense ... the Shermans were never in the game from the start - getting doubled up on in the first period ... the U was led by Desean Branson who netted 6 points in the first with buckets in transition ... 2 points from Evan Park was it for Unioto as they looked to struggle get into an offensive flow ... for the Pioneers the games importance looked up front as the entire starting lineup put points on the board led by Xzander Reams 5 pts (including a trey), 4 points from Kyle Stonerock on the blocks, running mate big man Nalin Robinson added 2 in the paint, along with Braydn Jarrell/Ben Nichols 2 a piece ... the ZT defense turned the U over 6 times in the opening qtr. ... the algorithm that the U was playing from - low energy, turning the ball over, nothing hitting the bottom of the net - only had one foreseeable outcome ... Zane Trace 15 Unioto 8 after 1 ... the game scenario didn't change in the 2nd as the U was held to 7 points as a TEAM - freshman Blake Hoops with 4 points and Evan Park with triple ... not nearly enough to close the gap with ZT as the Pioneers played steady basketball adding 14 points in the period ... Xzander Ream adding 6 points including a transition dunk, off the bench, Chillicothe transfer 6-8 Donavin Baker added 6 points, a pair of FTs from Stonerock ...nothing flashy, just efficient in pushing the lead out to 14 points ... Zane Trace 29 Unioto 15 at the half ... from the Cheap Seats there seemed to be no offensive flow, no intensity maybe it was the ZT defense that took away everything the U was trying to do? mental fatigue , nothing left emotionally ? one on one basketball wasn't/didn't get the U back in this one after the break ... Evan Park added 6 points in the 3rd to go with 4 more points from Blake Hoops ... the 10 points "outburst" from the U was no match for the Pioneers ... ZT put any thoughts of getting back into the game by Unioto on the back burner as Trace got a combined 11 points in the paint from Robinson (7) and Stonerock (4) ... the inside duo were complimented by 8 points on the perimeter - 2 three pointers from Ream and a deuce from Ben Nichols ... Zane Trace 48 Unioto 25 end of 3 ... the 4th period was but a formality ... Desean Branson - saddled with foul trouble for most of the game added 6 more points with 2 on a 2 handed throw down that seemed to incapsulate the entire emotional drain on the U Nation ... one dunk does not a comeback make as the U could only get a 3 ball off the bench from Braxton Platt and medium range jumper from Newton Hoops ... on THIS night that was the best the U could muster ... ZT played out the clock - 2 pointers from the bench in Baker & Carter Hill ... the rest of the scoring was from the FT line ... 5/7 in the 4th (Robinson with 4 points/ Ream 1/2 from the line) ... Zane Trace 57 Unioto 36 a final ...
