Looks like Eastern Pike hiring drum roll....Ethan Leist, seen this one lining up a few years ago.
Yeah, didn’t shock anyone with that hire I don’t think. Thanks for the info.
It'll be very interesting to see if they don't try to move back down to SOC1 as soon as they can in order to help him be more successful.
Going to SOC1 isn't gonna happen for a longing time. South galia comes in soc1 in 2023 they are not gonna have 10teams in a league. Eastern only hope is a 3 way league split which has been talked about.

The Eastern Pike basketball job was planned a couple years ago for sure....Im not too sure the football coach is the reason kids left though
You might want to look a little deeper on that one. It wasn't a couple either....it was several athletes....one just played in the elite 8 at Western

Any chance some of these student-athletes that left Eastern come back?

Good point, will be tough for them to go back to SO1 with that many teams, didn't think about that. I could see 3 divisions though, i think that would be good.

3 divisions would be great especially for basketball. It would let those very small schools be more competitive with each other and then schedule a couple more non league games were they can compete. Really need one more to enter to be able to go to the 3 way split.
Soc1
East
New boston
Clay
ISJ
Green
Add in Manchester

Soc2
Notre Dame
Eastern
Northwest
Western
South Gallia
Symmes Valley

Soc 3
West
Burg
Waverly
Valley
Minford
South Webster

Or something like that.

I think especially for the smaller schools it would be great also FB those big playoff teams could schedule more non league quality opponents. Let's face it most years Burg doesn't want or need to play Valley Minford Nw etc they could schedule up and those teams could schedule more competitive competition. Just my 2 cents for what its worth.

I get many are all about Winning a division championship. How about whatever division you’re in, you win some tournament games. Some schools want to win a league, some want to make a tournament run. Each to their own.

Nah I don't need to look into anything a little deeper, pretty sure I know exactly what went down in respects to that. Yes, I know about Carter going to Western, the McBee's ended up moving and they're down at Green now, I also know the starting QB they had for 3 years decided not to play his senior year of football. When I was responding to that his original question was if they had anything coming up, and I didn't name off a couple guys I said 4 guys left and another didn't play football but he headed to Minford. In terms of the Eastern Pike basketball job yeah I could see that one coming from a mile away my guess when Lockart took over was he was a place holder for about 2-3 years he wanted out during season #2, so it ended up being 3 years before this move was made.

That's actually a really good point as I did forget about SG coming into the league, but Northwest is also leaving the league at that point as well.

Any remaining boys varsity jobs unfilled as summer workouts start and shootouts and camps begin this weekend? Interested in Washington and Athens counties primarily but other news if you have it.

Heading into the first weekend of shootouts, any coaching vacancies left in the Southeast? Will anyone be reporting on this site what they see after this weekend?

Do a lot of teams usually participate in the first weekend?

I believe there are a couple of sites, including a very large number of teams at Marietta College. Or maybe its not this weekend. I'll try to find out more.

That would be great Pioneer, I'm assuming quite a few local teams will be there if that's the case. Hear anything about the players meeting with the new coach? Caught the interview this morning on WMOA.

Some shootouts this weekend, more shootouts and camps the following week though.

Unioto and Vinton County scrimmaged this morning. Lots of young talent on the floor and both teams played hard.
