Warren Warriors 2022-2023

Post by Whs95fan »

With football season upon us and basketball right around the corner it's never too early to talk the upcoming year. A very young nucellus and surrounding cast is what returns this year for the Warriors who I think will be a work in progress to begin the year. Looks like a few of the boys are playing football this year which isn't necessarily a bad thing and maybe gives others the opportunity early on in the season. While the schedule won't see New Philly, Dover, or Parkersburg South it looks like they've picked up some quality opponents in Cheseapeake, Linsly (WV), Gallia Academy, Fairland, Point Pleasant (WV), FCA, and Zane Trace. Taylor & Stadelman will be the focal point and are going to have to go for 20 a piece every night until we can get a third proven scorer. Guard play (or lack thereof) really hurt us last year but I'm confident by season's end some of the sophomores can step up.

The break between Jackson and Belpre is where the Marietta College shootout is. I'd say that would likely be the 22nd game.

Good catch, didn't even think about that. Hoping for a better lineup this year.

I talked to Maddox at a football game and he told me they’re anticipating 1 senior, 1 junior, and 10 sophomores to dress for varsity games. Easily the youngest team he’s ever had.

Wow that's unfortunate, hope they can find a replacement this late...

Pretty sure that slot is now filled by Belpre...Warren just moved them from January 3rd to the open spot for the clash...Warren is now looking for a home game sometime in the season as they are sitting at 21 scheduled games thus far

Would've like to of seen them change the schedule around and play Caldwell but with such a young team this year, playing Belpre the first game is understandable. I believe they'll have a younger lineup this season too but not totally for sure.

They will be young for sure....1 senior, maybe 2 juniors and 10-12 sophomores...then the freshman class probably anywhere from 9-11 kids. That could change though

Looks like Warren may have the youngest lineup in the region. Schedule looks like it could be a little less difficult vs last year? Winning season projected?

Scheduled is easier overall than last year but obviously it'll be a very young lineup so that could present some problems itself. I do like how the season opens up with Athens and Belpre though as opposed to Fairland, Zane Trace, etc. I can't make a prediction on wins or loses but I believe that 3rd game of the season against New Lex could tell us a lot, struggled with them the first go around last year before beating them in the postseason but I believe they bring back the majority of their lineup. If I was forced to tell you the starting lineup to begin the season I'd probably say Taylor, Stadelman, Cornell, Lupardus, and Barry but again that's just a guess.

I have watched the Warriors scrimmage a few times this pre-season. Your starting lineup projection appears to be spot on. Trent Taylor has the potential to be pretty special player. Far more gifted than last season with much greater physicality.
