Logan 42 a final

... Logan hosting MSL's Bloom Carroll Bulldogs at Jim's Gym ... Coach Rider again looking to pick up win #400 ... BC under new Head Coach Ryan Davis formerly the successful Head Coach at Chesapeake High School out of the OVC ... talking to Coach Davis prior to the varsity contest - Coach said the Bulldogs should have only lost 3 games this season ... as his Bulldogs have played solid basketball this season - Coach said that he had over 50 players compete for spots on the freshmen/jv and varsity teams back in October - from the looks of tonight's results Bloom Carroll basketball is in good hands as BC swept the Chieftains in all 3 contests ... picking up the trifecta with a 55-42 win in the varsity matchup ...

... Logan started the game with a lot of intensity on both ends of the floor - taking advantage of size inside as the Logan BIGS accounted for all of the LHS points in the opening quarter led by sr 6-6 post player Cayden Alford's 8 points in the paint /fellow big, Simon Pierce, added a putback bucket on the blocks (2 pts) ... for Bloom Carroll - the Bulldogs turned Logan over 4 times in the qtr. picking up a transition bucket from Owen Conrad (2pts) ... BC was led by sr Michael Whitcraft's 6 pts ... with 2 pointers each by Chase Chapman & jr Jayse Rockwood ... Bloom Carroll 12 Logan 10 after 1 ... Logan actually took a 21-20 lead on back to back triples by Kohen Maynard (6pts) - that was it for Logan' bid to keep this one in reach as 6 more Chieftain turnovers ended any hopes of a 2 game win streak for the home standing Chiefs ... BC had too many weapons, 5 players helped take back the lead for BC ... the Bulldogs matched the Logan 3 three pointers and raised the Purple & White 1 ... Logan went 3/5 from behind arc in the 2nd while BC went 4 for 6 ... led by Whitcraft's 2 triples and 2/2 from th FT line (8pts) ...Coach Davis, substituting freely all game, got long range support from his bench - Jett Jones adding a 3 ball (3pts) ... Michael Malone with a triple (5pts) ... Owen Conrad adding 2 pts/Chase Chapman 3pt gave the Bulldogs 21 pts in the period allowing BC to outdistance LHS 21-15 in the qtr. ( Logan , besides Maynard's 2 treys/6pts, got support from freshman Owen Bell 5pts including a 3 pointer/ sr Jacob Burke 2/2 from the line/ and a Simon Pierce 2 pointer rounded out the Chiefs scoring in the quarter) ... Bloom Carroll 33 Logan 25 at the half ... Coach Davis for BC played 10 in the Bulldog rotation ... lots of athleticism for BC including 6-6 freshman Carson Davis (Coach Davis' son) ... Coach Davis has put his mark on an already good BC program - the crisp passing on the perimeter and in the paint/ good ball movement/ solid guard play ... good fundamental basketball which is what he had at Chesapeake ... with the athletes that BC has and the solid group of sophomores - Tryce Chaffin/Markus Roberson/Park Truex to go with juniors Jett Jones/Jayse Rockwood and 6-6 Freshman Carson Davis - the cupboard is full for BC to be successful in the MSL for years to come ...quarter 3 saw Logan implode with 5 more turnovers (15 in the first 3 qtrs) to go with at least 4 at the rim shots that wouldn't go down ... the BC defense held the LHS offense to 4 fgs/8 points ... all 8 coming in the paint - Pierce 4pts and Alford 4 pts ... Malone for BC added another 3 pointer (5 pts) ... Owen Conrad 4pts/Jayse Rockwood 4pts off the bench along with 2 pts from Markus Roberson ... Bloom Carroll 48 Logan 33 after 3 ... the 15 point margin was more than enough to stop the Logan win streak at 1 game ... as Logan outscored BC 9-7 in the period ... the game was already in the books for BC ... scoring for Logan sr Jacob Burke knocked down the Chiefs 4th triple of the game (3pts)/Max Black 2pts on a floater in the paint/Pierce & Alford added 2 points each ...for BC Jackson Wyant added 4pts and a 3 pointer from Park Truex wrapped the W up for the Bulldogs and Coach Davis' first trip down Rte 33 to Jim's Gym in Logan ... a rotation of 10 with 9 different players contributing on the score sheet ... Bloom Carroll 55 Logan 42 a final ...
