... looking at the numbers I have for some of the records - I KNOW I DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE RECORDS CORRECT as we wind down the last week for some in the regular season or for most LAST WEEK was the last week ... my apologies ... THIS 2/13-2/20 will be the LAST week for the Elite 8 rankings for this the 2022-23 regular season ... I do not include any Post season games in the rankings ... I believe 2/18 starts the post season play in games ...

Ironton is new to D2. Do half the teams always have 16-6, 15-7 type records? Seems crazy to play a 14, 15 win team in the first round of the tournament when you’re the 5 seed.

Zane Trace at Vinton County (2/17)

Pick up regular season game as both teams were short one game.

Pfloyd, no big deal, but I think that Oak Hill should be 7-15 overall. They have 2 wins over Waverly, 1 over South Gallia, 1 over River Valley, 1 over Pike Eastern, 1 over New Boston, and 1 over South Webster. Good job as always.

... thanks I92 ... another one(regular season of ranking teams) almost in the books ... seeing sooooo many youngster driven teams this season - I'm excited to see them in 2023-24 - lots of talent all around the SE district ... BUT first !!! just a little "thang" called the "one and done" season ... Basketball :30 ... THE ONLY thing that would make this better is having the sectionals in common neutral sites again, ALL of the district play at the Convo ...

Most years, yes. The top is usually a bit more dominant, but there is even greater depth overall this year. Even though the top may not be as dominant, it’s going to still be extremely tough to win a sectional as a lower seed.

Heck, Unioto won a district 2 years ago as a 7 seed and won each game by 15+. The depth of D2 is what makes it so difficult to navigate.

I’m taking Fairfield Union to win the district, but it wouldn’t surprise me if about 6-7 others would win as well

Parity all around D2 this year. I agree with you on the number of teams who could win the district. It’s definitely going to be a fun tournament to watch.

Ironton has the talent but seems to be a tad high in the overall rankings IMO, BUT I think they could make some noise in the D2 districts if Terry and Shrek play well.

Honestly I don’t think they are a great tournament team. Small overall, especially in D2, and average at best defensively. But Terry and Schreck would keep me up at night going against them. Doubt many have a better 1-2 combo.

... it actually was/is a BIG deal ... the Oaks had the 2 W's last week over Waverly AND a BIG BIG W over South Webster on the BIG TIME 3 ball by Garrett McKinniss for the win at the buzzer ... I don't like shortchanging anyone especially when it was an important moment for the Oak Hill TEAM, players, coaches and fans ... those kind of wins, make all of the practices, learning moments in the non-wins so much more meaningful - program changer moments/ wins ... so ME not getting it right - makes me feel bad ... I watched the shot multiple times - the players did it all the right way! cleared the rebound on the missed FT, worked it to the middle of the court, pass to the midcourt, no wasted dribbles - sideline pass to GM who was ready to put it up - splash !!! - just the way it was done in all of those end of the practice game situations ...

They usually do a very good job at SW, especially the guys that do the play-by-play. I think it was just one of those nights as far as the camera is concerned.
