Congratulations to South Point & Fairfield Union !!!

Post by pfloyd »

... it won't sink in for days, the disappointment that goes with losing ... just wanted to say thank you to the players, coaches, fans of both South Point and Fairfield Union for great regular seasons, and outstanding runs in the post season in D3 and D2 respectively ... the post season is NOT an easy gauntlet to run !!! each round you advance to go up against a better team each game ... as you advance you get less and less time between games ,less time to prep for the opposition ... the games might still be 32 minutes long in game clock time but they all become more intense IN that playing time ... the wear and tear on the body goes up as players play more minutes ... players playing hurt as there is no down time to speak of to heal/rest the body ... when you get to the rare air of regional play you start meeting up with teams that have legitimate D1 college recruits - a totally different skill set to go with college size /strength ... teams coming from the East and Central districts to the SE District regional play have little to no respect of/for SEO basketball ... SEOhio teams have that added pressure as they are playing for themselves- team, teammates, schools, school communities AND vs the lack of respect given by the other regions ... both South Point and Fairfield Union pushed the SE closer to "taking" respect ... thank you Pointers/Falcons for giving all of us basketball fans in SE Ohio an opportunity to support 2 of the best TEAMS in our district in the post season this season ... much respect to you for handling the "grind" and persevering to get to THAT defining game ... with a "W" you GO to the Final 4 ... Elite 8 - outstanding , playing with the opportunity to go to the Show - THAT'S a big deal ... congratulations - pfloyd
