Per the OHSAA:
The official OHSAA RPI standings will be published on OHSAA.org. It is worth noting that any RPI data published elsewhere is unofficial and should be viewed with skepticism as it may not be correct. The OHSAA RPI data should not be confused with the MaxPreps rankings. MaxPreps rankings are updated twice a week and posted on www.maxpreps.com.

That comes directly from a document sent out by the OHSAA.

Those MaxPreps rankings were posted over on the yappi site starting the feeding frenzy. Those are not the OHSAA RPI standings that will be used for seeding in this year's tournament.

According to the OHSAA, the RPI standings will not be published for the first time until mid-January.

Just funny Maxpreps still don’t have most teams records correct. Using Maxpreps for anything is a terrible idea.

Between the SVC, MSL, FAC, SOC and SHAC, exactly two schools have incorrect records on maxpreps.

The biggest problem with this is that it’s literally just wins and losses that matter, so beating a D4 who is 11-1 in a weak conference means more than beating a D1 who is 6-6 in a great conference.

So the current rankings that Maxpreps is using will be different come mid January? Then why isn't maxpreps using the correct formula at this time?

Well I know Fort Frye record is wrong and that’s 2 to many if you’re using AI to rank these teams.

Not exactly sure how Maxpreps rankings are calculated. But the official RPI rankings will be different because they are set by the OHSAA and the coaches association and Maxpreps is just the one who is going to calculate them. Essentially Maxpreps is just doing the calculations based on the formula they are given rather than their own ranking system.

Fort Frye’s entire schedule is wrong, so it’s not like someone can easily report the scores. Now, that’s on the coach (or whoever they have do it) to fix and takes roughly 5 minutes.

Also, those two SHAC records are now correct.

Anyone can report scores on Maxpreps. This is a terrible idea. Why not just have a computer ranking like football?

Why can’t they come up with their own system. You can’t convince anyone in here that Maxpreps isn’t garbage.

The way the entire MaxPreps page is formatted is strange and most often wrong. It’s the Wikipedia of sports.
