Wild Finish ahead in the OVC

Post by Area51 »

Fairland, Chesapeake and South Point all with 2 conference losses with Chesapeake holding a half game lead at the top. Ironton and Portsmouth trail with 3 conference losses.

It’s going to make for a Wild West type of show down!!

I agree, Area51. Unfortunately Portsmouth just can't seem to take care of its home court, as the Trojans are now 4-0 on the road but a disappointing 2-3 at Trojan Arena. If the Trojans win out against Chesapeake, South Point, Fairland, and Ironton they will do no worse than a tie for 1st. Tough thing to do, but this Trojan team has been inconsistent which means that no one really knows what will happen with this PHS team.

Portsmouth's best game was a 30 point win at Ironton, while the worst loss was 60-57 to Gallia Academy at home, a team that PHS beat earlier 65-47 @GHAS.

Whoever wins the OVC this season will have truly earned it........it will be interesting to see how the conference fares in the tournament, because there's a good chance that at least 1 OVC school will be playing in the regional and maybe a couple more in the district finals, depending on the RPI brackets.

The Peake has Portsmouth at home Friday and the 3 on the road to Fairland, Rock Hill and Coal Grove.
No certain order for these teams.
Fairland has Portsmouth twice, The Peake, Coal Grove and South Point.
Portsmouth has The Peake, Fairland twice, South Point and Ironton.
South Point has Fairland, Gallia, Portsmouth and Ironton.
Some very tough games ahead. Better bring your a game every night.

Fairland has already played Ironton twice , split the series . They have to play S. Point , Chesapeake , CG then Portsmouth twice . I say FHS ends
up 10-4 in the OVC .

Im going to say it comes down to S. Point taking the OVC again .

None of the top 5 has it easy, don't count out The Peake.
Fairland playing Portsmouth twice at the end is going to be rough.

South Point has to play Ironton twice, on a Saturday and then again the following Tuesday.
