... he echoes my concern on another thread - the vote was by an 8-9 man board of directors NOT the 880 or so schools across Ohio ... they should have voted, been given a voice imo ... water under the darn dam now ... more divisions, more state champs, more $$$$ for OHSAA ...

For the NW schools and other rural areas, I would've wanted 2 80-team divisions D1-D2 and 4 160-team divisions for D3-D6. This is essentially a 5 division format for the smaller 80% while the new D1 would be split in half creating an additional division at the top 20%. It doesn't change much, yet changes a bit, and of course would make OHSAA money, but probably not as much money as the approved 7 division format.

Although looking at SE Ohio, I think they'd want 6 divisions with the top 2 divisions at 64 teams each so they can guarantee 7 districts where with 7 divisions and with 80 team D1/D2, SE Ohio might be stuck with only 6, maybe even 5, districts.
