Geez, a 9-2 team outplays the No. 1 team on the road and otherwise plays one bad game all season and they drop to 11th place. Obviously this is not based on its “body of work” to date as they also defeated the No. 3 team on the road, but because the team is now without its leading scorer and rebounder. I’m not saying the rankings should ignore that fact but thats quite unusual.

I’d expect the jeeps to drop significantly if Roberts went out. Fair is fair

So your saying if Roberts as announced today out for the season you wouldn't have the Jeeps in the top 5? Top 10? Interesting.

They’re so small without Roberts. I agree not top 10

If Montgomery or Keyser went out for minford I’d say the same thing. Idk anything about Marietta but that’s what the post was referring to wasn’t it?

They didn’t beat the number 3 team on the road they beat them at home. They got beat by the number 3 team on the road by 18. Not real unusual to drop a team 8 spots after a big loss and losing your best player (per stats).

Sorry to "let people" down in my ranking of Marietta this week - they did lose by 18 this past week ...and yes they will now be playing without their leading scorer and rebounder the last 11 games ... but the biggest factor was they lost by 18 to Warren who avenged the game 2 loss on the road to MHS ... in addition - South Webster with 2 wins going to 10-0, Miami Trace continues to win at 11-0, Warren beat Marietta and Minford (on a neutral court) ...Chesapeake wins 2 to go to 12-0, Unioto is a complete team inside/outside with depth wins 3 this past week to go to 13-2, Fairland wins 3 - now at 11-1 ... I felt I had to move them up ahead of the Tigers as I don't think Marietta without their leading scorer/rebounder , big man in the paint, as well as an all around scorer at all levels is better than the other teams that are ahead of them at this time ... could they be better? yep, pfloyd can be wrong - I was wrong about Fairland (had them at 31 in the preseason) ... I did not have Marietta at the #8 preseason ranking without Bass on the roster, when I found out Bass was a Tiger - I KNEW how much he brought to the table, he did an outstanding job of filling the void left when 6-8 Alex Kendall graduated ... now HE is not there ... will someone else step up? I fully expect Coach Gardner/Coach Warner to have a "plan" ... no Kendall, no Bass ... I feel the Tigers are in a good/realistic position where they can move back up the rankings - the Tigers have a stretch of games that would be tough for ANY team above them in the rankings - Stuebenville (12-1) , John Glenn (12-1), Monroe Central (10-2) , @ Athens will not be a given W (Athens played Meigs very well @ Athens- much closer than the final 15 point margin) ... the committee of one - me - made the call to drop them below the other teams now ahead of them ...

Several of the other teams have not achieved yet — maybe they will. This is the body of work as of Jan. 20.

Marietta will not move up from here but to have more quality wins and a far better strength of schedule (stare at Unioto for example) than others ranked ahead is a disservice to actual record of games played. Taking account of margins of games but no credit for losing by one at Meigs, the No. 1 team? This is an opinion board so I providing my perspective. Don’t know that I’ve ever seen a ranking that anticipates the future midway in the season instead of what’s actually happened on the basketball floor.

Tigers will not move up again.

They didn’t beat the number 3 team on the road they beat them at home. They got beat by the number 3 team on the road by 18. Not real unusual to drop a team 8 spots after a big loss and losing your best player (per stats).
Correct it was at home, but all of the rest appears correct and logical.

I don’t know that I’ve seen someone so butt hurt about someone else’s rankings.

It’s called an opinion board. No “butt hurt” just a rational response.

New Lex 8-5 and 8th just sounds crazy….with that said all their loses have been to some really good teams…they got a very hard schedule….rankings looks about right

Can Warren off our 2nd #1 in as many tries Friday? Meigs for sure will be a tough matchup with their size.

Before the season I would've had them #1, tough schedule no doubt but with what they had coming back I thought they had a chance to be really good.

New Lex strength of schedule dramatically better than the team just ahead of them. Unioto among the weakest schedules to date of any high-ranking team in any division in the Southeast, excepting Chesapeake and Zane Trace.
