Zane Trace (19-4) vs Ironton (15-7) at Waverly

This should be a good game at Waverly.
Ironton has played a lot of good teams this winter after starting late. Their 7 losses are to Spring Valley WV (2), Chesapeake (2), Fairland (2) and Minford. About half of those were close games or OT. Zane Trace has a veteran team. Lost to Unioto (2), undefeated Miami Trace and Logan Elm knocked them off in OT. Both teams beat who they should. Only exception was ZT holding on to beat a good Jackson team. Both teams are solid. It will come down who wants to play defense IMO.

Should be a fun game. Both teams can really get up and down and have quality depth of scoring as well.

... I looked at the times 6p and 8:30p for ALL of the district semi's - not enough time for them to empty gyms and let people back in ... now the regionals are a different story in some locations ie.
D6's at ODU on March 5 ... they have the start of game 1 at 5:30p ... they will clear the gym before the2nd game at 8p ... all others are 1 ticket lets you take in both games ...

These District Semifinal games at 6:00p.m. and 8:30p.m are indeed SPLIT SESSIONS - CLEAR THE GYM
District Championship games at the Convo are not split sessions (D4 27th at 6:00p.m. & 8:00p.m. / D5 28th at 6:15p.m. & 8:15p.m.).

Very interesting matchup. Ironton will be more athletic and have the best player on the court (Schrek??). Zane Trace will be the most cohesive unit. It could go either way.

I’d look at MyTownTV on YouTube as it is possible on the Ironton side. Hudl Fan Cam usually has the Downtown Gym on it, but we will see as far as the tournament goes.

idk who MInford would rather see...... Itown has the athletes to at least match up w Minford, but ZT is a balanced team of shooters which has caused minford trouble for years (North adams last 2 years reminds me of this year ZT)
Will be interesting.

Having watched ZT several times this season and Minford four times, I don't see ZT coming within 20 points of Minford. It would take the game of a lifetime from the ZT boys to even stick with Minford for 32 minutes. Getting past Ironton will be difficult enough...

Don’t sleep on Ironton. They are very very athletic. If they can limit the turnovers and take good shots they will win this one. They had Peake down by 18 and gave it away. I’ll take Ironton in this one by 8-10

Ironton might want to worry about Zane Trace now and now the officials anymore.
The Fighting Tigers should be up 10-12, but instead are trying to make a point and now it’s a 39-36 game with 6:28 to play. They’ve let ZT stick around and now they believe.

Ironton just outright refusing to take shots, just turnovers. ZT has cut it to 39-38 with 4:30 to play

Zane Trace 52
Ironton 45
Zane Trace kept playing, Ironton went into complaint mode and didn’t know how to get out once ZT showed they weren’t going away.
ZT took a lead and just added on behind a patient attack and really good D down the stretch.

Crazy game, felt like Irontons coach complained more than coaching and getting his team to actually run a decent set on offense! Unfortunately Minford awaits and I am not sure many can stop Kayser in all of Ohio right now!

Tough watch but a good summary of Ironton’s season. Good enough to lead good teams late but not able to close ever.

Ironton was up 37-30 and quit looking at the basket. I have watched a lot of their games this year and Ironton tends to give away games late against good teams.
