dani, hope you are right about the Mustangs. I'll take in their game on Saturday against Teays Valley, so we'll see how they do against another warmer team in the second half - TV has won four of its last five.

I really like Murray from Unioto. Real nice player.

bman- The Mustangs battled hard and it was really nice to see a team not quit on the season. That can only mean good things for next season, with all but 2 players back.

Cole has worked his tail off to get to where he is, it could happen to a nicer kid either.

It's been a while since I've been able to come to the site. First and foremost, Pfloyd, Keep Swinging! Its a fight that will be won! Heres sending you good thoughts!
Regarding Sheridan, after losing 4 of their 1st 6 games, they have won 9 in a row, after beating a woefully bad Morgan team by 36 on tuesday. They are currently 11-4. This weekend could be the season for them. They travel to TriValley on Friday and travel to John Glenn on Saturday for a makeup....both places extremely tough environments, not to mention tough teams.
I am in no way insinuating that Sheridan is an elite team...however, it has been a blast this year to watch this team compete and improve from game to game. Fox (frosh), King and Fisher (sophs), Russell and Freville (juniors) have come along very nicely. And of course, Horsley has just been so steady and a great influence for this group as they gain experience. To me, yes you are ultimately measured by wins/loss, but to watch these young men grow up right in front of you is the epitime of high school sports.

Sheridan will provide a tough matchup in the Sectional/District tourney.....Warren scrimmaged them this preseason and they showed some talent, but obviously have improved along the way....

Jimmy... 12/30 was Grove City Christian...not a very good team. however, after running the 4 game gauntlet against Maysville, John Glenn, Columbus Desales, and Newark Catholic, it seemed good for their pysche to be be able to put 86 points on the board.

Ironton faces a stiff challenge Friday night in Upper Room Christian Academy

They're a Prep school out of North Carolina whose record is (13-9). The schedule they play is loaded with D1 Talent.
They play Huntington Prep the next evening at Chesapeake.

Upper Room Christian Academy has a couple D1 Players on the Team that I can find.

SR- Rodney Purvis - 6'4 190 - SG - ESPNU Top 100 #19 - Ranked #6 SG- Signed North Carolina State
(Offered - Ohio State, Connecticut, Missouri, Memphis, Virginia, NC Central, VA Commenwealth)

JR- Tyrek Coger - 6'8 230 - C - ESPNU Top 50 Centers Ranked #27 - (Missouri & NC State) so far.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the Teams they beat was ...United Faith Christian Acad (66-61) who has 4 D1 Recruits.
Braxton Ogbueze 6'1 PG Ranked #7 (Signed Florida)
Peter Jurkin 7'0 C Ranked #25 C (Signed Indiana).....What a name......
Zach Davis 6'3 SG Ranked #124 (Committed UNC Asheville)
Ivan Bankovic 6'5 (North Carolina State)

generalwatcher - thanks for the support my friend ... battles are meant to be fought AND WON - this IS a battle, it WILL BE won AND I don't know how to lose ... I got the call from the OSU Medical Center/The James around 2:30pm this afternoon - they want me to check in at 9:30am with surgery scheduled for between 10:30 - 11:00 am => Game on !!!

... as far as Sheridan goes - what a young team! ... when a coach has such a young team AND a proven player as with Horsley -the start of the season is difficult 1) the HUGE learning curve is there for the youngsters "learning the varsity game" ... the speed of the game, the physicality of the varsity game, the skill level of their opponents 2) your proven player KNOWING what the youngsters are going through tries to "do more than he can do" to "cover for the youngsters/protect the youngsters <= when this happens even your proven player isn't getting it done ... Horsley is a winner, a competitor, I'm sure he did those things - it's normal ... I am also quite sure that the Sheridan coach has gotten Horsley to "let the youngsters play/be responsible for themselves/learn from their mistakes" this alone has made the Sheridan TEAM better ... those youngsters Fox, King, Fisher, Russell, Freville are now "weathered veterans" of the varsity game - they know what to expect every night out now , Horsley's game is now HIS OWN game - he is doing what HE does best, he is allowing those "no longer" youngsters to do what they do best ( they all bring something valuable to the TEAM, that's what makes a TEAM in the first place => a TEAM is all of those components/talents of ALL members combined ... it is great as a Cheap Seat guy/fan of high school hoops to see a "team" become a "TEAM" ... Sheridan is not a team that should be taken lightly in the post season -Sheridan HAS BECOME a "TEAM" ... I look forward to reading the recaps of this weekends Sheridan games ... and then again when the Generals come to Logan for Sectional action in a few weeks - YES I am planning to be there to watch those games - it's what I do ...
