Although both divisions of the TVC are more competitive than theyve been for years, I honestly believe a top 8 spot on the list would be a bit too presuptious with only3 games in this season. I would love to see VC, Alexander, or Athens on that list but you dont get on it with just 3 or 4 wins under your belt.

Pfloyd the dragons played without Hatfield and lost to the redmen of Rock hill. They have a very good post player in "big country" Sam Cook. If gets the ball down on the block he is going to score almost all the time. Fhs played with little emotion or intensity for the most part. They are not playing D and using their speed. The big thing I see is no rotation on D when they press. It is along season and I think we will find ourselves sooner or later at least I hope so!

Thanks for throwing us a bone in your summary of the NA/Chessy game and for moving us up the treehugger ladder. Your posts are always enlightening.

Chesapeake has some real tests coming in the next few weeks. We have one of the most difficult non conference schedules with North Adams at the Convo, Huntington WV @ the Ironton Tourny and Ironton at home.

We played well enough to win against North Adams. If our shooters, Copley and Webb are on and our post players stay out of foul trouble we can play with just about anyone in spite of our lack of size. Our pesky full court defense, conditioning, and ball movement will enable us to compete with most teams.

WOW ... No respect for the DOGS or the VIKINGS?

People are living in the past - you see Athens as the 1-19 team they were a year ago and that is just not the case!

Who would have thought Athens would beat Meigs by 20? anyone? Who would have thought Athens woud win @ Gallia, a place they haven't won at in 15 YEARS!!!

Lots of weird things are going in southeastern Ohio - that is because it is a NEW YEAR! Basketball can change at the drop of a hat from one year to the next ... Kids grow, get better, learn a new coaches system, etc...etc.... watch out, cause the 'unknown' is just getting started, not just with Athens but lots of other teams as well.

Pfloyd...Got all the SEOAL varsity/reserve scores except Zanesville-Warren Local. Saw a 47-42 score in favor of Zanesville, but not sure it it was the varsity or reserves.

Logan Elm 65 Fairfield Union 62

LE - Congrove 21, Amann 19, Blake 10.
LE - 5-0, 3-0
vs. Westfall Tuesday

LE's still struggling on timing, and frankly, did not execute well on either side of the floor tonight.

I couldn't agree with more bman about the LE game. This team may be 5-0, but that was the worst I have seen Logan Elm play in several years. Give Fairfield Union credit for hanging in there and making it close, and doing what they are supposed to do after getting down 16-6 early, but they had some serious help from the boys in white last night.

Mark my words, Braves fans, if Logan Elm keeps playing like they did last night they won't win a district title, or a league title, or even a sectional title! They are going to lose to teams that are less talented than they are. I know Chilli lost last night, but unless LE shows some more hunger against Westfall on Tuesday, I see them going down to the "Hat" next Saturday night and getting beat (perhaps badly, too). At which point, pfloyd, you will have no choice but to grant Coach Stiverson's inciteful request to lower Logan Elm down from its lofty (and IMO undeserved) perch.

Piketon beat Paint Valley 74-41 @ Paint Valley to go to 4-1. Played without Keenan Brush who was out with ankle injury.. should be back this upcoming week. Besides that, we're finally getting back to full health. The streaks have suffered from the Flu bug and it seems we're finally getting over it and beginning to get our groove.

Jordan Brabson finished with 20pts, 10 rebounds. Cody Smith finished with 15 pts.

They will host Glenwood Tuesday night at Piketon before the infamous Pike County Holiday Tournament at Waverly next Friday night.

WOW FLOYD ...

Just like our original top 8 five years ago ... THE IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS should take over the #1 slot eh?

I dug up a top 8 that I had printed out back in 2003, it took me some time but I found one ... lol

Here is what it looked like ...

#1 ... Ironton (Waginger led Tigers)
#2 ... Chesapeake
#3 ... Logan Elm (Tyler Evans, Evan Blake team)
#4 ... Vinton County (With Chris Bethal)
#5 ... Greenfield McClain (With Danta - I believe they shot up the rankingas later in the year ... lol)
#6 ... Eastern ... (With Cozart, Dill & Cross)
#7 ... South Webster (this was the year before Waginger transfered)
#8 ... Trimble (A.J. Jenkins, Fouts, Christman)

... Pretty funny eh?

Talent means nothing unless you reap the benefits of it through hard work and playing the fundamental style that has made LE one of the better programs in the district. Logan Elm has to play with a greater sense of urgency for the entire game.
