Floyd ... I'm a bit surprised you kept Piketon at No. 8- yet, left Vinton County off the list? I know the Viking have 3 losses - but from what I have seen - they are a much better team than what we saw during the first half of the season. I think I wrote before the Shriners preview this year that VC would probably need a little time before they show their true colors. That JV team that went (20-0) last season needed a little experience and some time playing together with Lawhead & Ward - now we're beginning to see what the end result may be with that group on the floor.

Last 8 games: (8-0)

@ Zane Trace 57-40
@ Alexander 48-35
vs Athens 61-54
at Shekinah Christian 59-52
vs Meigs 68-52
vs Paint Valley 65-44
@ Nelsonville-York 62-23
@ Piketon 51-48

(Really its the last six games that stand out. Athens isn't a bad team and was in the hunt for a TVC-Ohio title when they met in McArthur. I have been told that Shekinah Christian was no slouch and to beat Meigs - the No. 2 seed in the D-III Athens sectional - 68-52 was fairly impressive. Beating Nelsonville-York 62-23 in the Buckeyes home gymnasium is what caught my eye Floyd - I mean that's almost a 40-point win over a team that actually has some talent on it. Then of course the big win over Piketon on a neutral floor - which should have least put the Vikings in a tie with Piketon for the No. 8 spot.

Its that darn 'BCS instruction school for ranking teams' that you attended years ago Floyd that's got your mind a little whacko ... lol ... And then of course your bias nature toward the 'little guys' (a.k.a the TVC) may have had something to do with it as well ...

Piketon has lost to Zanesville- top 10 in state in Div.2, has only 2 losses- and VC- also Div 2 with 14-3 record. Don't see anything wrong with them being #8 on the list.

Not a huge week in the SVC as the tournament looms, but there are a few:

Tomorrow--Paint Valley @ Piketon- PV has struggled as of late, but still has the size to rebound with Piketon, if they can handle the Piketon pressure, then they'll have a chance to stay in the game.

Friday--Zane Trace @ Piketon- ZT played Piketon close at ZT. Also, this could be Piketon's chance to clinch their 1st Gold Ball for an undefeated SVC season.

Friday--Huntington @ Southeastern- Huntington won the 1st meeting by 8, but had no answer for Michael Brown(32) at all. Should be a nice matchup between 2 teams wanting to get rolling before the tournament and possible trip to the Convo.

Other games:
Tuesday: Washington CH @ Adena; Unioto @ Jackson
Friday: Adena @ Unioto; Westfall @ Paint Valley
Saturday: Southeastern @ McClain

Peebles travels to North Adams on Tuesday 2/15, and hosts Lynchburg Clay on Friday 2/18 to finish off the regulear season. Oddly enough Peebles will also play the winner of the North Adams -vs-Lynchburg Clay game in the Sectional final at Waverly next Friday 2/25.

King James: Maybe if Eastern wasn't stuck in the Hocking Division and had to play 16 LEAGUE GAMES - I would agree with you ... But in terms of ranking teams (which isn't saying one team is actually better than another) the Eagles just don't have a great resume. They beat Meigs & Manchester - that's their only quility non-league wins. Vinton County beat Fairfield by 25, beat Southeastern by 25, beat Shekinah Christian 59-52, beat Paint Valley by 21, and then knocked off state ranked Piketon Saturday.

And then you got the age old question: Does the Ohio Division present more of a challenge (top-to-bottom) than the Hocking?

2010/2011 Ohio Vs Hocking match-ups.

Athens 50, Trimble 30
Alexander 54, Federal Hocking 26
Alexander 54, Southern 41
Nelsonville-York 58, Federal Hocking 55
Wellston 72, Miller 63
Meigs 48, Southern 41
Meigs 67, Wahama 58

(The only TVC-Hocking wins were Eastern over Meigs in the season opener, Trimble beat Alexander in the season opener & Trimble beat county rival Nelsonville-York by 3 over Christmas break.)

Pfloyd hope your feeling great by now, I know it is a long row to hoe. I think the list is dead on as for the VC supporter I hate to say this but the top 7 teams would pound VC and a couple on the wannabees list would also. So feel blessed your in the top 8.
