Oak Hill vs. Versailles...State Semi-Final

I don't know much about Versailles except that they finished their regular season at 12-8, but we all know that records mean nothing when it comes to the tournament. As far as I'm concerned, everybody that's left is undefeated (because they are or they wouldn't still be in the tourney).

If it ends up Oak Hill/Regina it will be press v press for the whole game.They press all four quarters no matter the score as well...That'll be interesting..

This is a good draw for Oak Hill. They beat Versailles, which will be a big challenge, then they will get Regina. Let's be honest, everyone knows that Regina is the biggest offender of recruiting in the entire state of Ohio, when it comes to girls basketball. Some how, they never get busted......hhhhmmmmm..........

Anyway, Oak Hill will have their hands full, if they get past Versailles........

The Versailles bench comes alive down the stretch as the Tigers pulled out a 26-23 win over Miami East in a Division III semifinal Wednesday, March 11, at the Vandalia Butler Student Activity Center.Click to enlargeVANDALIA — Versailles High School girls basketball coach Jacki Stonebraker had nothing but confidence in the Tigers' defense going into the Division III regional semifinal on Wednesday, March 11.

"I trust our defense and I believe in our defense," she said. "That's what won us the game."

Baskets were scarce and defense reigned supreme as Versailles (17-8) roared back and defeated the Miami East Vikings, 26-23, at the Vandalia Butler Student Activity Center, setting up a Saturday regional final here against Middletown Madison. Game time is 1:30 p.m.

With 20 seconds left and a 24-23 lead, Versailles junior Susan Berger knocked down two clutch free throws to push the lead to three.

Stonebraker decided not to foul as Miami East senior Katie Mengos launched the potential game-tying 3-pointer with one second left, but the shot came up short.

Versailles trailed by four at halftime, but senior Emily Frey led the Tigers' comeback with eight of her 11 points in the second half.

After being held to four points on 1-of-18 shooting in the first half, Versailles opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run and grabbed its first lead of the game with 2:02 remaining in the third period.

"It was a game of runs and (Versailles) made a couple at crucial times," said Miami East coach Preston Elifritz.

Versailles earned its fourth consecutive D-III regional final berth.

Versailles isn't a very high scoring team but their defense is incredible. I suspect this game will be a sleeper just like the Oak Hill boys had to play against Waterford on Saturday. Defense, defense, defense. That's what Versailles is all about.

Also, does anyone know if a charter fan bus is going? If so, PM me and let me know. I wanna be on it if so.
