The problem for Eastern was not the officials it was lack of good defense, constant reaching and not moving to get into good defensive position. Eastern also started to foul very early to stop the clock. Eastern fould at leat 7 times to stop the clock that is 14 extra foul shots. The officials were not from Waterford and did a decent job. Quit blaming the officials and look at what your team did not do to win the game.

On a aside note the Burdette girl was by far the best player on the floor. I was very impressed with her game.
Good post.
So in saying this Eastern did not drive to the bucket and when they did they missed lay ups? Like I've stated earlier seen both teams play and both went to the hole. Hard to believe a team almost shoots 30 more free throws in a big game essentially for the seedings and the TVC Hocking title.
Can anyone on here see when they have seen 40 or more free throws in one game?

Take off your rose collored glass's,Spiderjon was right on with Easterns problem.
From where I sat, Eastern fans were screaming at the Refs on EVERY SINGLE call made against their team. Could every call been BAD??? :(

Rick are you sure you are "just a messanger"? There is no way that anyone thinks that 30 more foul shots are not a little home cooking. There is a very apparent reason that Waterford hasn't been beaten in over 5 years at home. Both these teams are good and pretty evenly matched. It sure would be nice to see impartial refs on a neutral court. And by the way, the Waterford fans were yelling at the refs just as much. Let's be fair to the players, Eastern is aggressive, they did foul alot BUT Waterford is also aggressive, they foul alot! Just didn't get called!

Dear Lady Eagles: You are very good and you are very young. Now you know that, in the future, you will need to play 10+ points better than the other team, because at some schools, the home court advantage is worth that much. By now, you know where those schools are.

It is a good thing some of the girls didn't play this year at FH. If they would have all played we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

The AD at waterford did the right thing in hiring some of us locals to call this game. Me and Willy calls it likes we sees it and we usually sees wildcats winning.....if them eggles wanna win, Pam needs to come up with a few extra bucks......

When Waterford played Eastern at Eastern-the Eagles had 2 girls foul out. The Eastern girls were in foul trouble the whole second half. Waterford didn't have a player close to fouling out. Doesn't sound like home-cooking in this game.

I wasnt at the game so I cant comment on whether the refs did a good job or not, but I do know who did the game and none of them have a care about either team and none of them are from anywhere near Waterford. Unless this conference is different than others, the Waterford AD has little to no say on what referees show up for varsity and JV contests.

With that said. The Burdette girl is a stud. I have watched her play AAU ball for a few years and she always seemed years ahead of her age.

Continuing to whine about the foul shot descrepancy only allows the Eastern to girls to find no reason to carry any of the burden of the loss. Had Eastern made one single layup of the many they missed and shot the same free throw % as Waterford we would have won by a point.

Maybe we should work on our weaknesses rather than our excuses.

I did not say Eastern did not drive to the basket. They did alot and Waterford stayed in front and made Eastern shoot over them, and when they got by the Wateford defense they missed layups. You also have to keep in mind the foul shots that Waterford at the end of the game. Probably 12 to 14 free throws. Therefore the total is closer to 26 for the game. Plus give the Lady Cats credit for the high FT %.

Emily Brown was in foulf trouble the whole game. She only played about 4 mins in the first half and when she was in Waterford was ahead by 7 to 9 points. She again got in foul trouble in the second half and had to sit. She played less than half of th game, and is probably the second best player on the floor behind Burdette.

Both Eastern and Waterford can clinch a share of the TVC Hocking girls basketball title tonight with wins over Southern and Belpre, respectively.

These two teams have combined to win the last seven league championships in the TVC Hocking in volleyball, basketball and softball, and tonight will be No. 8 regardless of those outcomes.

These two schools have also won all but one of those league crowns in the three sports since the 2007-08 campaign, which is pretty darn impressive.

Anyone want to take a stab at the one school, program and season in which neither Eastern nor Waterford came away with the championship?

I also believe that EHS and WHS will get their 'rubber match' in the regional semis on March 10 at Pickerington High School North.

Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, you must admit that that is quite a feat for those two schools.
