Athens 68- Meigs 27

Post by givengo »

Did Athens run score up?
Seems couple Athens posters were just complaining about other schools running up score.

I was at the JH game but I bet there wasn't any second half pressing and the bench cleared early.

Athens was up 23-5 after 1 quarter. On pace for a 90 point game so no they didn't run it up

Athens boys beat Meigs by 49 first game of year. They could have stalled the second half.

It's how that margin was reached, that is the issue. You seem like you are trying to justify your own teams faults. The question should be how was the game managed.

I don't see a difference. 50 pts is 50 pts.

Athens staff made some improvements this year. So I doubt if they ran it up.

68-27?

go look at the TVC-Hocking scores, they are far worse than that on a nightly basis.

Pol Pot is right on---if you are pressing and your starters are in late that is a different animal than if you back off and clear the bench. So, the short answer is no, 50 doesn't equal 50 in this case.

We live in such a soft society. There 68-27 scores by the handful in girls basketball all across the state.

Simply put, Coach Horsley could have beaten Meigs by any number he wanted. 41 is not a very wide margin.
