Pioneer Valley Conference

Post by efarns »

Fort Frye lost some great players to graduation, but are still looking to be one of the top teams in the league. Top returnees are Brooke Borch and Shawntel Parsons. Most of the JV team has had a couple of years to develop at that level and turned in a pretty strong season last year as well.

Who else is going to be good this year?

To any team losing three girls that lettered all four years and another that lettered three years. Three of these girls are playing college basketball this winter. That would mean a bleak future. The Cadets just seem to reload year after year. This years very good freshmen class features another Liedtke girl. Does that ring a bell?

That being said, the JV's last winter started three or four freshmen most games, and they also did "mop-up duty" in the last half of most varsity games.

Coach Liedtke and staff will be in fine shape and ready to compete for another PVC Crown. ;-)

I need a lot of help finishing the schedule out. I basically don't have anything for River or Frontier. River's website has a girls basketball page that says "2013-2014 Girls Basketball" but then lists the schedule from last year. I can't find anything on Frontier. Hopefully the AD's will respond to my e-mails with a schedule that I can post.

I'm guessing a lot of these schools have open games that I'm missing for the OVAC tournament?

Cadet JV's and Varsity won their two quarter previews this evening. the varsity game was real close until about a minute to go.

JV final 23-11, and varsity was 22-16.

Lots to work on for both teams...

Cadets host Parkersburg South tonight. South is probably one of the top two, or three teams in West Virginia.

Fort Frye played well in many ways, but ultimately, you have to put the ball in the basket. 29% from the field and 50% from the foul line - hopefully it was first game jitters. Otherwise, Fort Frye played hard and executed a good game plan.

The fact that River blewout MC, Caldwell and Frontier and the Cadets beat the Pilots 50-16 tells me Cadets are still the favorite.

Didn't have this one on my schedule. Do you happen to have a score for this one?
