Re: Fort Frye
That'd be the end of an era of one of the most successful coaches in Ohio history. Isn't he already in the HOF?
Sad for Fort Frye.

Re: Fort Frye
Just want to say good luck to the new coach of the Lady Cadets. You've got some gigantic shoes to fill. Disappointed in the administration at fort frye. You're letting personal feelings get in the way of what is actually the right thing to do. You don't not rehire a hall of fame coach like coach liedke. You dont let him walk out those doors. Shame on you fort frye, shame on you!
Re: Fort Frye
Disappointed for Coach Liedtke. I am in favor of letting coaches who do a good job, especially coaches who have their name on the court, decide when they want to step down.
As for the new coach, I am sure she will have fairly average seasons from a W-L record. Hearing about her coaching style in AAU, she will show up in a colorful outfit and then do nothing to keep her players accountable, so it will be very much different than Coach Liedtke.
She has been looking for a head coaching position for a while, and she did some very questionable things to try to get her daughter playing time a few years ago in college.
But as a FF grad, hoping she has success. Heart just hurts for Coach Liedtke.

As a fellow FF grad myself, my heart also hurts for coach Liedtke. I know all the players wanted him back. And it sucks the administration didn't take that into account. They got, who they wanted. Just hope for FF sake, he don't decide to coach somewhere else.
Re: Fort Frye
I’d be surprised to see him coach elsewhere. I haven’t talked to him more than a few passing words over the years. So it’s just a feeling.
But as great as a coach as he is, he molded those kids to his way of coaching. I’m sure there would be an adjustment period with a new program and soft parents.
But if I had a daughter in HS, I’d sign up for him to be her coach.

Re: Fort Frye
I am not sure this was an agenda or anything from the administration. I think it is in the union contract that if a teacher applies they get it if they are qualified and she is more than qualified. Regarding the players, they will still play and they will have a good year. Having Hiland back in their district may be a bigger issue than having a different coach.
Re: Fort Frye
Nothing against her, but I am not sure she is qualified.
Correct me if I am wrong on anything.
She hasn’t coached high school ball in over 25 years? Coaching an AAU team is not the same in coaching a HS program. You pick the AAU players but not the HS players. And if you don’t have enough players, you simply don’t have a team.
She was obviously a fantastic HS and College player in the 80s. Lots of people were good players, but few of them are actually good coaches.
We will see. It’s her program now.

Re: Fort Frye
Dan did an amazing job. They should name the gym after him and give him the key to the city. In the next hundred years, he may yet be the greatest basketball coach in Fort Frye history.
Cathy will be a great replacement. I'm looking forward to see the direction she takes the Lady Cadet program.

I'd throw in permanent free parking anywhere in downtown Dungannon.trampoline wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 8:31 amYou guys have a city?? It's official! Coach Liedtke is out as Fort Frye girls basketball coach. Board approved Cathy Borich new head coach. And approved her assistant coach and jv coach. So coach fogless, coach Ross, and coach huck (lexi) are all out as coaches. SMH
Re: Fort Frye
I heard Dan is going to Caldwell to coach the girls there?
Who will be on Coach Borich’s staff?

Heard Dan is in discussions with caldwell, but hasn't committed to.them.yet. Cathy's assistant coach will be Jared Kasun. Her JV coach will be Mike Hesson (from caldwell).

Re: Fort Frye
Dan ultimately decided not to come to Caldwell. As our district director I had to submit his career accomplishments with him being our D6 COY nomination for the state coaches association, it is eye popping to say the least.
As a boys head coach he went 433-172 in 27 seasons. 12 sectional titles, 3 district titles, a regional title and appearance in the final 4. He also won 17 PVC titles and 6 OVAC titles. That's a hall of fame career in itself.
As the girls head coach he had a record of 327-87 in 15 seasons with 9 district titles and 3 regional titles appearing in the final 4 three times. They also won 11 PVC/TSL titles and appeared in the OVAC title game 8 times. He has won the both the prestigious Arnzen award and Paul Walker award from the OHSBCA along with 25 different coach of the year awards ranging from league, district and state level. His overall record at Fort Frye as a head coach is 760-259 and incredible winning percentage of .750. He literally has won 3 of every 4 games he's coached over nearly 40 years. Hats off to a great career, hate that he didn't get an opportunity to go out on his own terms.

Interesting Coach Borich would hire two males. I saw posts on Facebook, not from Cathy, about how women should coach girls.SportsGuy25 wrote: Sat May 17, 2025 12:53 pm Heard Dan is in discussions with caldwell, but hasn't committed to.them.yet. But good hires. I am sure those two will help offset Cathy’s lack of recent HS coaching.

Do you know if Dan has just decided to call it a career or if he’s still pursuing options and jist decided Caldwell wasn’t the fit?caldwellbasketball wrote: Sat May 17, 2025 4:47 pm Dan ultimately decided not to come to Caldwell. Re: Fort Frye
What are you even talking about? The boys program post-Liedtke has been mediocre at best, and I don't see you worried about that at all. We just saw a boys coach in southern Ohio go from AAU to State Champion in 2 years. None of your criticism makes a bit of sense. I can't think of anyone in the area more deserving of this opportunity than Cathy and Jared.Cadet85 wrote: Sat May 17, 2025 10:41 pmInteresting Coach Borich would hire two males.
